Hey everyone! My group was looking into trying out RV camping this time around, but we didn't agree on the plan until after all of the Lawson Hill RV passes had sold out. it looks like there are 4 spots with hookups at Matterhorn Campground that will become reservable in a few days; has anyone tried to camp there before?

I'm a little concerned about getting back and forth between the campground and the festival. It looks like it's about a 22 minute drive. Will there be anywhere to park a 23ft RV in/near the town during the day, or is that a total pipe dream?

Any thoughts or advice at all would be fantastic :)

I believe there is some day use parking by the Telluride Brewing Company, which is next to Lawson. Not sure how quickly it fills up especially once fest starts. I've never driven up to MTN Village, but there might be parking up there and ride gondola down. Could you tow a car with your RV, or drive one separately? Might be easier and more maneuverable than trying to day park an RV.

How come they don't turn the banjo up?

The camping at Matterhorn is pretty nice.  It's one of the few NFS campgrounds that has hot showers onsite.  The only downside was traffic noise from 145 overnight.

Have only limited knowledge of parking during festival, length is a definite disadvantage.  Some other vehicle would be desirable for transport to/from parking.

Good news/bad news: Drive may not be 22 min as you would probably have to bail at Mountain Village and gondola up and over- which would ultimately add to time to Town Park. Without barricade pass, you're not getting into Telluride proper during bluegrass.

Maybe semi-local FOM or others have a more creative transport alternative...
