ya'll got any ideas?

Merely my $0.02...

Dancing - Sit down at the movies.  Dance at concerts - w/in reason, of course.  There's no reason to entirely block someone's view and stomp their buzz if you can dance many places.  But then again, no one can stand in one spot and dance all day, so if someone in front of you has the spirit inside 'em, maybe let 'em boogie a while.  They'll move along eventually.

Talking - Talk at camp; or in town; or in the corn dog line.  Listen at concerts.   I'm not there to listen to someone's conversation, I'm there to listen to Bela pick it.  And if you gotta say something, it's possible to talk with your tarp-mates without drowning out the music.

And unfortunately, as I always say, "there's always a clapper."  Dang it!  I'm not there to listen to someone's poor sense of time.  If you can't sit still, please tap your feet.  Clapping along (when not solicited by the performer) is often worse than talking over Peter Rowan telling his story about the Free Mexican Air Force.

Oh and I'd also vote to leave the video cameras at home, lest we jeopardize the long-sought freedom to make audio recordings.  My tapes, from back in the day when taping wasn't legal, well, those tapes suck.

Bring on the twirly girls!!!  (sorry, LuAnna  Flower)

Great name for people that insist on talking during the festival. From another Fest frum "chatting f*^k wits" or CFW for short!

Thumbs Up   In 2011 we had a large group of  loud CFWs (love it!) next to our tarp during Edgar Meyer's brilliant morning set.  Half of them had their backs to the stage, just to top off the rudeness. Since it was morning, we easily moved up front to an empty tarp, but people's lack of awareness is just mind--blowing sometimes.

Newbie here, still a little confused on the whole tarp/ seating situation. Does everyone do the tarp run or only those trying to get the best spots. Some days I probably won't make it in the festival grounds til early afternoon and wanted to know if we'd be able to find a spot to set up a few chairs if we didn't do the tarp run. Any guidance is greatly appreciated!

I noticed they added spotted laser lights behind the soundboard the past few years, that draws people.

Made it thru!  Literally started to shed a tear as I skip-waltzed to Gentle on My Mind, stage left, back and forth under the cool mountain moonlight down the long path made clear by fellow too tired to dance Festies.  Free as a Birdie.  So Happy!
Where's my Donut?!

Oh I think I lasted pretty good for an old fart with a dislocated right thumb that made twirling my baton a bit tricky!  The music, the people, the beautiful box canyon, the vibe, it just makes you want to be the Energizer bunny and keep going, and going, and going...........
Apologies to anyone who may have inadvertently gotten a baton on the head. Really don't think that happened, but just in case.....

Me too!  I usually attend Bean Blossom Bluegrass Festival in June, which I LOVE but rarely any dancing; therefore it was SO EXCELLENTE to not be the only dancing fool - I'm constantly told by strangers that I am the Energizer Bunny - glad to know I have a twin - next year I'll have to bring some kind of whirly gig too.
