I've heard rumors that there is an instrument checking service at the festival grounds? If so, could someone shed some light on this for me?

Just before the entrance to the festival, and next to the children's area there is a building set back off the pathway where instrument check and the lost and found are located.
It's on the right hand side as you enter the festival. Thumbs Up

Thanks Tom, I assume (and hope) that this service is free to the festi goers?

Yes indeed it is free and very safe. If you're camped in town park or warner field your instruments are safe covered up in your tent during festival. Your neighbors will look out for you !
