I can not express the overwhelming level of excitement I have about attending TBF for my wife and my first time!!!! Pretty certain I haven't been this excited about a festival or concert ever. I know its still two months away, but we've already started gathering gear, packing items, checking lists. June cannot get here soon enough. Please can someone just fast forward the calendar?? I'm ready now!

We are old hats at the festival scene, and experienced campers. We'll probably way over-pack, and bring lots of items we'll never use. I know people ask many times what to bring. But what are some of the things you regular attendees have stopped bringing, or that you never use when you do bring them. Also I've seen lots of pictures and videos of folks tubing the creek/river. Are these folks bringing their own floatation devices, or are they renting them in town somewhere. Looks like a lot of fun.

Guess I'll sit back and twiddle my thumbs, and keep drooling and reading the forum till June gets here.

Tubing the river is not as big a thing as it is in Lyons for other festivals (the river is a lot colder), so there aren't any tube rentals in town.
It may be a good way to cool down on a hot day, but it doesn't take long to get so cold you can't move.
Keep your runs short and enjoy the river with your favorite floating device. Thumbs Up

I've tubed at Lyon's before, good times! Couple weeks ago we did three days on the Buffalo National River. On day two we flipped in the rapids known as 'hells half acre' and sunk the boat! Took 30 minutes of wading nipple deep in fast moving water to get it out! Took a couple cold beers and some whiskey to get the feeling back in my legs, hahaha. Thanks for the tips Tom!!

One year you get snowed on, so the next you bring your winter gear and it's sunny and hot. You never know on that kind of stuff so just come prepared. What ever activities you like ... bring! I bring my bike, hiking gear, and maybe a tube like you mentioned.  Havent tried floating yet. Summer lifts for biking will be open.

Hippie has a packing list that is easy to find. Might prime the pump on ideas.

We spent the weekend gathering festy gear! Found a Tapestry by one of our favorite local artists Rick Sinnett, that matches our Tarpestry! Also got some nice heavy duty tarps for camp.

While on our quest we realized we'd like to have some nice solar powered string lights for camp. Anyone got a suggestion of brands/models???

Just ordered two more festival passes and two Ilium camping passes. My oldest son and his girlfriend will be joining us, and I couldn't be more thrilled! Kinda feeling speechless right now. This will be my first festival experience with my oldest child (he's 20), I've dragged my younger 12 year old to many festivals. Yeehaw 23 days till we leave!

We can't wait either!!!  This is second TBF for the wife and I.  Last year we were at Mary E which was cool...but this year we lucked out and got Town Park.  Looking forward to everything being within walking/biking distance this time.  Being from TN, the biggest adjustment we had was the wide temp swing between day/night.  Hot feels hotter.  Cold feels colder.  When the sun goes down, it's like throwing a switch.  Will have my puffy coat ready.   LOL
I'm ready to take that gondola...err gangala (?) ride again to Mtn Village.  Super cool.  Great view at night coming back down from the top.  Last year before fest we we able to catch a show up there.  It was Ben Nichols of Lucero and Brent Cowles.  Formerly of You Me and Apollo.  Lots of great stuff to eat in Telluride too.  Great times.

I am super EXCITED!!! beyond I might say!!! 1st time to TBF, I have been to lots of festivals but I hear this one takes the cake!
Another question.... If you don't have a tarp, what is the viewing situation like? we usually go VIP to festivals to get close to the music as it is more of intimate experience of the music. but I know this is not the case, I just don't know the number of Festivarians, so I am just trying to get a feel of what I am in for.

People are super friendly and will let you join their tarp. It sounds like it might feel odd to ask but it really is true. It might be hard to find a spot if there are ten of you but pretty much anyone will find a place on a tarp up near the front. Enjoy the magic. I travel from Australia to go to Telluride. It is definitely worth it. The best I have been to and I've been to many, many festivals around the world

As it is we are having to strap gear to the roof of the vehicle just to have room for everything, so no room for the boat! Was thinking of tubing though.

Less than 24 hours till we depart!!! Gear, clothes, food, booze packed, just have to load the car in the morning. Checked and double checked my list, printed tickets. Now if I can only get some sleep tonight, I'll be all good. Doubting I sleep well though! Can't tell everyone how excited I am to finally meet all you weirdos. We plan on making it to the Goddess walk, Bloody Monday, the TP beer share, and hopefully one of the shows at Run A Muck, plus some pre-parties and beer shares in our campground at Mary E!!! 2 Days and we're there. Wave  Cheers
