Dear festivarians,

We have managed to organise  leave from work; book flights from Australia; get rides to Denver and score tickets. Today we received the horrible news that our Air BNB booking which we confirmed and paid for NINE MONTHS ago has been cancelled.  Does anyone have a spare room in town??? For medical reasons we need access to electricity overnight and camping doesnt work.

Aaagghhh, so devastated. the only places left to rent in town are insanely expensive (over $8,000). This might mean we cant come, cannot believe it

Trying hard not to cry

Wow - that is total crap!  I am so sorry.  I'd go ahead and cry....might relieve some of the pain.

There are a couple people looking for lodging shares.  I know it's just a start, but check out that section on the forum.  Maybe you can all help each other.

Hugs.   :hug

Thanks Skubes - it has been the WORST couple of days, first the dog, now this.  It feels way too hard. I spent many weeks scouring accommodation and booked way ahead. Now i feel completely lost. i have looked at Lodgings, no joy there......trouble is I have to cancel flights very soon to get any refund so i dont really have a lot of leeway.

i wanna see everyone and you know, GSBG!!!!!!!!

Telluride Bluegrass Fest -- 2011

URL icon « Reply #3 on: March 27, 2017, 09:28:54 PM »

So sorry to hear what happened.  I did a cursory search at vrbo and found several reasonable (for the festival) rates still available .. starting at 249/nite .. a few of those .. they are in Mountain Village .. which is a gondola ride over the mountain from Telluride.  As for staying in Telluride proper .. it does look like slim pickins.

https://www.vrbo.com/vacation-rentals?q=mountain%20village,%20CO,%20USA&page=1&from-date=2017-06-14&to-date=2017-06-18&searchTermContext=630a662c-56e4-4448-88d3-a02f86ed9023&sleeps=2-plus

Don't know how risk-averse you are .. but .. every year there are last-minute lodging deals that pop up due to folks cancelling at the last minute.  Just something to consider .. a 'throw chance to the wind' approach and bank on fate.

WTF Girl!! How the hell can they do that?  Mad
I'm in the business of renting out homes and condos and we would be bound by that contract. I guess there is no point going down that road with AirBnB .... how long until you need to cancel airfare?
Did you check out RockyMtnGuy's lead? I see that rate, but haven't tried to book. Is it just the two of you?

Damn Lesley, this ain't right, I'm so sorry this is happening to you. Should we call the boys and see if they can squeeze you two in their red Prevost? After all you have to be their biggest fan from down under!  Flower

Lesley, I'm sure you've tried this but if not call AirBnB at 1-415-800-5959 to explain your situation and see if they can help.

Best of luck!

Hi team, apartment was sold. Air bnb can do nothing, have spent most of day on the phone. We are weighing up options but there aren't many left. Australian $$ has declined against US $ since my booking. Prices have gone up and my dollar has gone down. Frustrating! Thanks for the festivarian love as always

As you probably know, many camps have "electrified" using solar means. While I'm not sure of how much night time electricity you need this is something to explore with your friends in TP.

Though it wouldn't be the best option, have you looked into renting a vehicle, and looking for lodging in a nearby town? Or renting an RV, or camping and having solar with a battery back-up for electric?

um no.

We Aussies drive on the other side of the road.

I am terrified of driving in US but at night, in mountains after a full day of festival?

Death wish!

Seriously, I couldn't do it Thank you for thinking of us

Pardon if this is rude, but if some of us wanted to keep an eye out for lodging for you, would you feel comfortable sharing what price range in US$ would work for you? Feel free to PM me if you are ok sharing but don't want to do so publicly. We want you there!!

You are extremely kind!

I'm sorry to say that we cancelled our trip today.

It has been a terrible week with a death in the family and another family member very unwell. The cancellation of our Telluride accommodation was too much. We were able to get a reasonable refund on our fares if we cancelled today, any delay meant we lost most of it.

It was a very hard decision to make but we felt as though it was too big a gamble after we lost the booking and there was nothing in town we could afford at this late stage.

I will DEFINITELY be there in 2018. I can't believe I'm missing this year. Getting there has pretty much felt like my full time job this year. I think I am the only person who has studiously watched youtubes of every performer at this year's gig. I'm so disappointed, I love this festival and I love the festivarians.

So much festivarian love to everyone. And I reckon Parker Millsap is going to blow you away.

Will try very hard not to cry. It has been a tough week all round.

I hope you guys have the most amazing time.
