If they do a smaller venue like Swede-Finn again, that would leave room for someone like Parker Millsap, Rayland Baxter, Lindsay Lou & the Flatbellies, etc. to get a slot too, but some of the concerns noted above lead me to believe that we shouldn't expect louder/more electric bands at Swede-Finn.

Also, I like speculation a lot even if I'm wrong  Flower Cheers Wave

I would really love an Elephant Revival nightgrass show! Is there ever a scenario where a band not on the main stage line-up gets a nightgrass slot?

What Skubes said, but Elephant Revival is on the Sunday lineup too. Maybe those were intended to be two separate questions, though. But Fruition did FirstGrass and a Nightgrass slot a couple years ago without being on the full festival lineup. That's made me remember how much I wish Billy Strings would be at Telluride :-)

They were two different questions. Still hoping for ER nightgrass show. But was secretly hoping maybe one of the nightgrass shows would add an artist or two that wasn't already on the main stage line-up. I know its probably not going to happen but would love a Leftover set! Or another npt so Bluegrass act like Modest Mouse, Beck or Built to Spill would be real cool!

LOS will not be there this year. Stringdusters will be at a festival in New York. Punch Brothers always do their nightgrass show on Sunday, always at the Sheridan, and usually this is the only "official" nightgrass show on Sunday night. As far as Sam Bush, he used to come to the "after-hours jam" that was the predecessor to Nightgrass, held at the Nugget Theatre, usually hosted by Chris Daniels and the Kings. It was a "show up, play as long as you like" kind of jam. I don't think he will ever do a regular nightgrass show, but you never know! GSBG headlines on Friday, so Thurs or Sat would be their nights for a late show. Last year they did Saturday and I gave away my ticket because I had seen ISD on Thurs, LOS on Fri, and by Sat I was just too worn out. But I sure did make one kid happy by gifting him the ticket!
YMSB does the kickoff on Wed, main stage on Saturday afternoon, so a nightgrass for them would most likely be Friday? ER main stage is Sunday and I doubt they will do a nightgrass show. They will be in NY on Friday night for a festival, so that leaves them Sat and Sunday a.m to get to Telluride.
I think GSBG will do nightgrass on Thurs or Sat at the Palm. I'm hoping for Saturday.  YMSB could do Thurs or Fri at the SOH, since Saturday is already listed for Hot Rize there. Who knows, I just hope they annouce soon!  If Greensky does Thursday at the Palm that would leave it open for Elephant Revival on Saturday night, if they can get to CO soon enough.

Dierks Bentley is scheduled the 16th in FL so his only appearance will be Thurs main stage with the Travelin' McCourys.   The TMs may do a late night without him, maybe they could get SAM BUSH to join them!  Now that would be a HOT TICKET!

Greensky will be Saturday night at The Palm. That's been their slot for several years now. Yonder will be Friday at The Sheridan. That's been their slot all but one year that I've been attending.

Yes. If GSBG still does Saturday then there most likely will not be an Elephant Revival late night as they will be in NY on Friday, leaving only Saturday for them at the Palm or Sat or Sunday at a bar, but I don't see them doing just a bar show.

Boy, do I wish our friends at PB would hurry up already and release the Nightgrass schedule.  It's been altogether too quiet on the forum lately and that'll give us something to chew on as we count the days til June 14!

I'm hoping to see a Sarah Jarosz/Parker Milsap nightgrass. Or Margo Price with one of those two.

Besides the official PB Nightgrass shows, will there be music happening at other venues (bars/clubs) around town? And if so, what are some suggestions as to which ones might have the best acts? Jazz, Punk, Rock more bluegrass or whatever! Any and all suggestions would be appreciated.

Yes, there will be other bars that have live music throughout the week. Most of them are smaller shows that I don't believe will be announced much in advance. Just take a walk around main street when you're in town and you'll see flyers hanging in windows advertising the shows. Most will probably be bluegrass. A few years back I saw the Kitchen Dwellers at Last Dollar Saloon, it was probably like a $5 or $10 cover. Also one year I saw a Dead cover band (Shakedown Street) at the Conference Center in Mountain Village pre-fest. That is more uncommon but it is possible there could be a show up there.

I saw a band yesterday in Denver that will be playing on Friday night of the Fest at a relatively new place on the main street called RBG (Roma Bar & Grill).  They'll be up against Greensky on the main stage when they start, but they'll be playing long after Greensky is done.  The band is The Lonesome Days (https://www.lonesomedays.com/).  They finished second to the Lil' Smokies in the band competition two years ago  and have been slowly writing songs and refining their sound.  They recently recorded their first album at the E-Town Studios in Boulder and reached $15,000 in their Kickstarter campaign to fund the production of it at yesterday's party.  If you like Greensky, the Steeldrivers, Dirty Kitchen, and the Smokies, you'll like this band, too.  Their lead singer and mandolin player, Jonny Miller, has a powerhouse voice, reminiscent of Chris Stapleton.  Check them out.

To reinforce mountainjam's comment, back in 2009, we happened to see DJ Logic playing a random bar in Tride Wednesday before the fest. It was a nice change of pace and get a different type of boogie on.
