I need help before this idea becomes a reality.  The Bluegrass Karaoke Songbook has the lyrics to toooooo many songs in it.  The idea is to select the really fun songs to sing along to, the ones most people know, and the fun ones that the musicians, whoever they may be, really like or know how to play.  We'll work on the where and how to have the sing along but can y'all help me with the selection.  Which of these songs, however powerful, sweet, lovely, could be deleted from the list.   I think we could bring it down to about 15 songs.

FAVORITES ARE AT THE TOP OF THE LIST:

Packing for Telluride – James Buchanan
Howling at the moon
Friend of the Devil
The Road Goes on Forever
Great Day to be Alive
Same Ol River
Ive Just seen a face
Lets talk dirty in Hawaiian  -  By john prine and fred koller

In Tall Buildings,  By John Hartford,
Hard-Headed Woman by Elvis
WAYFARING STRANGER (sung by Jerry Garcia, Emmy Lou, Crucial Country
The River's Gonna Run  (Julie Miller)
Angelina Baker, From Dwight Diller on Elzics Farewell
Boz Scaggs Lido
James Keelaghan or  Richard Schindell's “Dodge?”
Salvation Song by Avett Brothers
The Mountain" by Steve Earle:
the Grateful Dead of Whisky in the Jar.
Gentle on my Mind - John Hartford:
Seeds of Peace -  Bonepony.  –
Feeling Like I  Need to Fly by James Buchanan
Big Rock Candy Mountain
Ain't Nobody Here But Us Chickens
FIVE PENNIES - Danny Kaye
Tapestry - Carole King
Forever Young – Bob Dylan
White Bird
Sugar Magnolia- by, um...duhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Rocky Racoon - Beatles
If you want to sing out – cat stevens
Soap - (Bonepony)
I Like The Way You Cook
When You Come Back Down
Girl from the North Country
SO BAD LAST NIGHT
Don't fence me in
Like I used to do
Time to learn

I think "Let's talk Dirty in Hawaiian" is a must!  It's been tested and is sort of a tradition, ever since camp Flamingo passed out the lyrics to everyone at the hurricane party 3 years ago..... AND I notice it is on the list TWICE!  Hmmm tricky tricky Courtness.
BTW - White Bird also appears twice.

Thanks Lara, I think white bird might be overkill.  I'll take out the duplicates, I have an email into Hurricane Michelle.  Now I have to start learning that song.

See you soon, in Flagstaff, Utah.  wait, I'm having deja vu.

Steam Powered Aereo Plane
(John Hartford)

Well I dreamt I went away in a steam power'd aereo plane
I went and I stayed and I damn near didn't come back again
I didn't go very fast on a steam power'd aereo plane
Oh the wheel went around and up and down and inside and then back again
Sittin in a 747 just a-watchin them clouds roll by
Can't tell if it's sunshine or if it's ra-ha-hain
I'd rather be sitting in a deck chair high up over Kansas City
On a genuine old fashioned, authentic steam power'd aereo plane

Well I'd like to be a pilot on a steam power'd aereo plane
Well I'd pull that pilot wheel around and then back again
And I'd wear a blue hat yeah that says steam power'd aereo plane
Oh the letters go round the brim and then back again
Sittin in a 747 just a-watching them clouds roll by
Can't tell if it's sunshine or if it's ra-ha-hain
I'd rather be sitting in a deck chair high up over Kansas City
On a genuine old fashioned, authentic steam power'd aereo plane

Can I suggest that we leave "Let's Talk Dirty In Hawaiian" off the list?  Flamingo has been doing that for seven years now, during the Mai Tai party, and I think we should let them keep their tradition.

Just my two cents... that and 134.00 will get you a barrel of oil.

Thanks for your suggestion Monkeygirl.  Hurricane Michelle is the one who wanted in the book.  She also pointed out that one of my versions had serious type-Os EEK!.  This way people have copies for when they sing it there.  Where is she?

We also used this book during the goddess walk about and I think we sang it then as well.  I think there has to be some others that don't really need to be here.  I wonder if each camp person could pick their favorite song from the list.  Hmmmmmm
