These brothers are 4th gen family musicians and are the youngest ever to play the Grand Ole Opry. Saw them last night and thought they would be perfect for TBF. John & James, brothers. James is killer on the banjo and fiddle and of course they played some bluegrass music! Amazing 2 piece band/performance!!

Could be a very cool project with part of The National and likewise lend itself extremely well to the TBF, but I might be crazy to think anyone named Bobby, Phil, Mickey, or Billy might ever walk on to the stage (for Bluegrass at least, perhaps B&B will snag them), although I guess some says I am some says I ain't

Since we are fantasising, i keep hearing about this band called Twiddle. Their stuff sounds cool...let's have them in our valley next year

I was being cheeky! I have never heard of them until yesterday but i saw that people seem to HATE them. I have to say i dont hate them ( after watching a couple of their songs on youtube, i thought they seemed kind of cool) but they seem to elicit the most extraordinary vitriol. Why do people hate them so much?

I was being cheeky! I have never heard of them until yesterday but i saw that people seem to HATE them. I have to say i dont hate them ( after watching a couple of their songs on youtube, i thought they seemed kind of cool) but they seem to elicit the most extraordinary vitriol. Why do people hate them so much?

I believe it has something to do with the way sub cultures "evolve" ... early on with Phish in the 90's, many phans were often extremely quick to promulgate their love Phish as a newly emerging band in light of the evergreen nature of the Grateful Dead which dominated the "scene" for a long while prior.   Phish gave a lot of younger kids the ability to "get in on the ground floor" with something new ... I think we're seeing a similar thing with Twiddle and the latest younger generation trying to differentiate themselves from what is now the evergreen nature of Phish and other stalwarts of the "jam band" circuit.

Personally, I like Twiddle and believe they have moments when they really shine or excel ... but on the whole, they don't really rock my boat & wouldn't travel for them.  Having said that, the few shows they've played locally in Telluride have been fun.

I don't know if the vitriol and aggression is ultimately genuine re: the band / music itself, but rather an "overreaction" to some fans who are vocal about their love of Twiddle & likewise their predictions for a "big rise" in fame.

has dolly parton ever been to TBF? she's on tour now with her new cd, pure and simple. she's 70 and played at least 5 different instruments when i saw her this past week, including fiddle and banjo. the gal's got talent no doubt!

I agree that Bob Weir with a few guests in support of his new album would be great.

I saw Twiddle at both the Susquehanna Breakdown and the Peach this past summer and enjoyed them, but they don't really have a TBG feel.

DMB has already announced that it is not touring next year...Dave Matthews has a long history with Bela and, of course, Jeff Coffin...we know that Bela will be at TBG.  So, how about a Dave Matthews and friends set?

I just saw Sturgill Simpson last weekend in Boston.  He and his band were fantastic and I think they'd play very well in Telluride.  His band even has horn players in it. Remember how great horns sounded in David Byrne's epic performance in 2009?
