While Victor is always a fine choice, tonight I'm catching an
acoustic and electric dose of HOT TUNA at the Boulder Theater!  :)

Was tempted but to busy to go, how was it?? Did they do any of the older songs?

I love Victor's energy, love em with Bela as well, but was alittle shocked at the songs he choose to put on his solo CD(not his new one).

Does he have a strong solo show?  Flower

HOT FUCKING TUNA
Jorma Kaukonen, Jack Casady
Barry Mitterhoff & Erik Diaz
The Fox Theatre
Boulder, Colorado
Thursday, May 08, 2008

Set One:
1. True Religion
2. Trial By Fire
3. Ode To Billy Dean
4. Can’t Get Satisfied
5. Sea Child
6. Serpent Of Dreams
7. Living Just For You
8. 99 Year Blues
9. I Wish You Would (with Sally Van Meter on lap slide)
10. Come Back Baby (with Sally Van Meter on lap slide)

Second Set:
1. Corners Without Exits
2. I Am The Light Of This World
3. Bowlegged Woman
4. Rock Me Baby
5. Genesis
6. Late Breaking News
7. Talkin’ ‘Bout You
8. Funky #7
9. Hit Single #1
10. Encore: Water Song

Had a wonderful time tonight, playing rail rat between Jorma and Barry!! Lots of geunine old school meat-and-potatoes-with-spices playing.

As the list notes, Lyons' own Sally Van Meter sat in for the last two tunes of the first set. Let me tell you that smokin' "I Wish You Would" was flat-out bitchin'!! The take of Lightnin' Hopkins' "Come Back Baby" as an untempo stomp loaded with raunch, with some classic blues licks from Jorma. Those two tunes you could argue was the centerpiece of a great show loaded with quality purposeful playing, feeling, and...raunch!

Oh yes...Jack was hysterical during a foot-stompin' "99 Year Blues", where at one point near the end of his solo, he started constantly jumping up and down non stop for over twenty seconds! Jack was his masterful, kick ass self. Barry was splendid all night, with tasteful solos left and right, along with subtle musical conversations with Jorma.

Speaking of which, Jorma was just superb tonight: Being tender at one moment (a beautiful shuffling "Genesis"), then down and DIRTAH the next...like the crunchy "Rock Me Baby" or throwing old-school riffs all over a greasy-and-grimy "Funky #7."

Two sets, twenty songs, close to 2.5 hours...capped by my favorite choice for encore, a beautifully executed "Water Song" that left me with a contented sigh! There were those in the crowd still wanting more...way to leave 'em like that, guys!
