If you don't get a driver don't stress to much. I worked in horse racing and have worked with a lot of Aussies and Kiwis in those years rode with many there first time behind the wheel in the States. My first bit of advice is to follow another vehicle, pick one that's going a speed you comfortable with keep a safe distance behind and just follow, especially if they have a bumper sticker with a banjo, mandolin, etc..! Second is to be careful coming out of driveways or parking lots, pulling out onto a road for some reason seems to be when you pull into the wrong lane and oncoming traffic (I personally think it is because you have been out of the car or just got in and maybe your attention is in to driving yet). Santa Fe to Telluride is a beautiful drive and should be part of your experience, if you had to drive in LA or NYC areas I'd be the first to tell you not to do drive. If the mountains are what has you nervous about Telluride Express does a shuttle from Durango to Telluride. Whatever you decide to do,good luck, see ya there!

You are lovely thank you. I have driven in the US...once...and crashed it...and ended up in police station.....ok, I was dressed as Boy Geirge from Culture Club, I was twenty and I was in Louisiana...I guess it won't happen again?

Just looked at it on google maps looks like 5 1/2 hour drive and you only will be in the true high country for the last portion of of the adventure from Doleres (fill up with gas) to Telluride for the last 1 1/2 hours. If you have any questions about the route PM me, I used to live out that way.

Excellent - this is so much better than a Wednesday arrival.  Go, John, go!  Medal

How smart is this gal?  She has a town Park pass, PLUS a condo.  She will be the only tarp runner in Town Park that smells like soap and latte!
