Our plans may change and we might arrive Tuesday evening.  High school camping doesn't open until Wednesday morning.  Any place where we might be able to grab a campsite just for Tuesday night?  Would love to find a spot in or near Telluride, but I guess a campsite along the route (coming from Denver) would work too.  Thanks!

You might want to verify first, but I believe the following established campgrounds are open & within 30 minutes of Telluride:

Woods Lake (down valley turn off near Fall Creek)
Sunshine (between Alta Lakes & Ophir) -- closest to town
Matterhorn (between Ophir & Trout Lake)

Why not treat yourself to an evening at Orvis Hot springs? A perfect pre fest soak, just be sure to make camping reservations to day.

I camp at Matterhorn every year before the High School opens . Its pretty close and you have Trout Lake just a short walk down a path . Its a great campground but you should make reservations very soon . I drive into Telluride for dinner . Not a very long drive . Hope this helps. Wave

Thanks!  Matterhorn looks all full but looks like there are spots available at Cayton & Ampithetre, which seem close.  Was just hoping that maybe we could get into town and hang out in Town Park for a bit.  But we will for sure be visiting Wednesday!

If there's a campsite available, this is the way to go, IMHO! There's hotel rooms, too, if you don't want to unpack...  Cheers

{{Or, try to upgrade to a Town Park or Warner Field ticket. Yep, that's what I would recommend.}}

Really?  Orvis Hot Springs - Nude or clothing optional resort.  Have you seen a picture of me in profile?  Not pretty.  On the other hand we might scare everyone away and have the place to ourselves.
