May snow is pretty common in the high country, it helps with the runoff.
That is why we spend as much of May as possible in S Utah or Fruita area.
Those who can't get enough are skiing up high.

Bring it on! It is needed all over the desert southwest. More snow increases the chance for my Weber in camp, I'm ready to smoke some meat  Thumbs Up

It can probably snow any time of the year up there. I believe it was 2011 when it snowed in Telluride on Sunday night after the festival. And the spring weather in the Southwest has been very wacky this year, so...

Yes, we woke up to snow on Monday morning in 2011.  Didn't it start during Mumford and Sons and contine through Robert Plant?  In shorts 24 hours earlier.

The peaks around us were covered Saturday night. It was really cool when the clouds cleared and the moon came out to light up the snow covered peaks.

Then Sunday, yes, it snowed during Mumford & Sons, stopped, then started again during Robert Plant & Band of Joy.... and snowed during the night.

The festival field was a beautiful blanket of white.

O.K., who has that picture?

Don't get your underwear in a bunch Ross. This is Spring not Winter in Telluride. As fast as it lays down it melts and it is beautiful. Yes it is a very wet Spring and the rivers will be very full. The rivers may swell but its the temps that drive the runoff. So we shall see. One thing is for sure it is going to be green and beautiful and I love to dance in the rain. So who cares anyway. BRING IT!

While it's actually very cool to see the white snow blanketing everything, I think my seasonal affective disorder is relapsing as a result of "the winter that never ends".   Try to make the best of it and have been hiking whenever and wherever possible, but I can still feel the tugging in my psyche that winter hasn't released it's grip.  I just try to remind myself that people in California would kill for any precipitation & even though it does melt extremely fast as LS correctly states, it still helps the region by increasing the snowpack (especially up high) ... even if it's simply a matter of avoiding a "net loss" on any given day.
