I'm so glad I asked!  That's fantastic Dan - yes please and thank you yet again!!  Very, very roughly what sort of time would we be likely to get there?  I'll need to adjust the pick up time for my car as I've made it pretty late in the day and it will be great to get an earlier start on my trip!

Mapquest says it's about an hour, but I'd be conservative an give a bit longer (don't know what kind of Monday morning traffic we might see around Denver).  So it really comes down to how early we get our campsites broken down and packed.

If I change the pick-up time to 12.30, given that they'll hold it for 2hrs, so up until 2.30 does that sound okay?  I wake early and can strike quickly but don't want you to feel you're having to rush at all.....

For all of you following this thread, I'm hoping to get my camping equipment inventory done this weekend.  I won't have a lot of extra gear, but for those of you traveling by plane I understand that any bit of space savings might help.  I think I can be at Meadow Park by Monday, and I'll definitely be leaving before noon the following Monday, but any extra gear that I might have, as little as that might be, is free to borrow so long as I get it back before I leave (except for my old tent - you can keep that  LOL ).

Who knows?  There have always been "ride share" threads, why not a "gear share"?  Anyone else able to offer a chair, tarp, cooler, whatever, to those traveling by plane, this might a very nice festivarian thing to do?  However, from my past experience with this crowd, I wouldn't be surprised to find that some sort of "gear share" thing has already been set up and I just missed it.

For Kate (Woodmole):  If you want to take this offline, my e-mail address is in my profile.  My girlfriend (Angela) reminded me that we have a few guide books and several maps covering the four-corners region that you can have, if you like.  They're a couple of years old, but they might still be useful.  Just let us know.

Hi Dan,
I'm Robin from Seattle (original poster) and I'll take whatever you've got!
We're flying into Denver on Thursday -
If you want to reply to me via email its foxpaw6227@gmail.com

We would love a tent, pads, sleeping bag and stove - lantern would be great too!
I know others have replied so not sure from the thread what has already been committed!
Thanks,
Robin Cameron

Hi Robin.  There's only one sleeping pad left, but that and the tent, sleeping bag, stove (1 or 2?) and lantern are reserved for you.  I'll remove these from the list of available items on the "Gear Share" thread.  Just let me know if you see anything else on the list that you'd like - thanks!

Dan, didn't you 'reserve' the other sleeping pad for Robin anyway, as the original requester?  I don't need one, just in case you thought I did - bringing my own....

Thanks for correcting me Kate!  Robin:  If you want both sleeping pads, they're yours to borrow, just let me know!

Thanks you guys - I would love two pads and a tent. a stove and a lantern.  Do you have any extra coolers?  (small would be fine.)   I'm NOT going to let you simply loan these, Dan - I'd be happy to donate a little $$$ for your Festival Fund!
We'll be staying in the Meadows too.....how about setting up the tent in a GREAT place since you're going early???
You will go to heaven for this!

Hi Robin, sorry I haven't responded sooner.

I'd be happy to set up the tent when I get there - do you have a preference for shade vs. sunshine?  Near the river?  Orientation?  (some people prefer their tent doors facing a certain direction, to get sunshine early vs. late, or to block/catch prevailing winds, etc).  Never having been there myself, I can't say for sure that I'll be able to find your ideal spot, but I'll try.

I only have one cooler unclaimed, but it's pretty small.  I'll bring it with me, but you may want to be prepared to get a larger cooler, in case it doesn't serve your needs.  (I may buy it from you at the end of the festival, if you don't want to ship it home; one can never have too many coolers!  :) ).

The stove is a single burner, and requires a small propane canister (available in large stores).  It's big enough for a small frying pan, pot, or percolator, but not much else (a lot of my equipment is designed specifically for backpackers and campers who need to pack light).  No one has claimed my cookware (that I can recall), so let me know if you want to reserve any of that.  I'll always want to be prepared with some minimal cooking gear, but honestly I expect to be patronizing establishments in Lyons and the festival for most of my food (the cooking gear is a back-up plan for me).

And as for "contributing", I'll say the same thing I say to everyone else - as cliche as it may be, "pay it forward" is my philosophy (taught to me by old friends, long before it became cliche).  Agree to that, and you will have done so much more than "contribute to my festival fund".  But THANK YOU for the offer!  Flower

Dan
