You want the bad news or the worse news?  Frown

"As it turns out, the El Rey Theater only suffered some smoke and water damage. The Golden West Saloon, next door to the El Rey (and interconnected), was a total loss. Too bad, it was fine venue. I saw Acoustic Syndicate there a few years ago. Great show, with maybe 100 people present.

Also suffering smoke and water damage was the Launchpad, on the other side of the Golden West. Another excellent place to see live music.

The Golden West Saloon was on the National Registry of Historic Places. It was built in the 1920's by Luigi Puccini, cousin of opera composer Giacomo Puccini. The El Rey was added later. Many top acts played there over the years.

It was a shock to turn on the morning news yesterday and see the place going up in flames."
