Leftover Salmon and John Butler are really the only apparent headlines thus far,
with the House Band headling Sunday. IMO we will see another 6 or 7 artists
bringing the total to around 27 or 28 total artists.
With that being said I can envision a pretty big name to lead into the House Band
on Sunday? Robert Plant? (we know it won't be Ray La who cares!)
and my pick purley because of the proximity to the festival the week before will be
Mumford closing out Thursday for the Solstice.
But what do I know?
Im just a GRASSHOPPER!
 LOL LOL LOL
 Cheers

I cant wait til June!!!
and September! Just got the initial line up for Pickin in The Pines in Flagstaff.

Ricky Skaggs and KentuckY Thunder
as well as the Stringdusters!

There might be super complicated negotiations going on to make sure Alison Krauss can squeeze us in...or not ...

Happy birthday Mr Lincoln btw

 Flower Flower

Alison Krauss will be in Missoula, MT on June 17 and in Nampa, ID on June 19 so there's still a chance she could be in Telluride on the 21st.  Thumbs Up

With Willie Nelson, no less! Man, why do they have to play my town when I'll be in the mountains. I'm fine missing Allison, but Willie Nelson?!?

Tell you what, PB, let's skip Alison (sorry Leslie) and bring Willie Nelson to the canyon!
You are in big trouble buster! We want Alison, we want Alison. Look, you can have Willie ( seen him heaps, he plays here a lot) but have NEVER seen AK and really, really want to. Now stop it, get on the AK express please.  Cheers

I think Mumford too but I also think the Basement Tapes crew.....we need another great female as well.  Actually, it looks pretty fantastic already. Cannot wait to see some of these bands for the first time. This is building up to be one of the highlights of the decade. Thanks TBGF festival crew  Flower

Ps it is Valentine's Day here so that would be a nice day to send Grasshopper the gift of another name LOL

The Basement Tapes crew would be interesting and I'll be surprised if we see that. Just too much hype around it. I think it may be unlikely for the same reason they didn't get the Goat Rodeo sessions. Though I'm sure Rhiannon will do some stuff from those sessions. And that's okay. The fest doesn't need the craziness that comes with the huge thing of the moment. Maybe in a few years they can bring Mumford back after the hype around them has really died down--and if they come out with a new CD that doesn't sound exactly like what they've done already--I loved loved the first CD, and the second one sounded so exactly the same I hardly listened to it. The first year was great, then they got too big to be good for the fest.
I'll be surprised if Plant does the fest again. It worked the year he played because of the lineup he was touring with then.
When I think of headliners, I think the set before the late set--except for Sunday when the final set starts a bit earlier, and often in recent years has gone to the House Band.
For the late show the other nights, Leftover and John Butler are good guesses. Greensky could certainly keep us awake for a late set, but they seem to like playing during the day (of course, up till a few years ago, Salmon often had an afternoon set; it's just the last few years they've become a fixture in the late slot). The third late set is probably someone yet to be announced.
Love the activity on the forum today! Lucky Friday the 13th! I'm ready for Festival!

I find the classification of headliner to be an interesting one. For instance, in 2012, Leftover Salmon closed out Friday Night, but I'd consider John Fogerty was the Friday night headliner.

Under the idea that the headliner is always the closing act, that would mean that in different years, Gaelic Storm and Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeros both headlined over Sam Bush.

I would wager that The House Band will close out Sunday night and Leftover Salmon will close out Saturday night. I wouldn't be surprised to see Cooder, Skaggs and White close out Thursday. I'm not terribly familiar with The John butler Trio, but they do appear to be quite the popular act, so they could possibly close out Thursday, as well, or possibly even Friday.

Greensky did a great job closing out Thursday night at String Summit last summer, but I don't expect them to close out a night at Telluride quite yet.

As for Salmon, they've had a closing set every year they've played since my first festival in 2008. I think the Vince Herman, Drew Emmit and friends set in 2007 was an afternoon set, though.

I've seen Allison a few times, and, to be quite honest, while it was always a good show, it never blew me away. Willie Nelson, however, did blow me away the one time I've seen him. He may come to Australia a ton, but he's rarely in Montana. Plus, he'll be 82 this summer, so he may not be touring too much longer. Allison still has several decades left in her.

H Sug - I have to agree with most of what you say.  Willie's always a great show and this national treasure NEEDS to be seen.

And I've been lucky enough to see AKUS many times, too.  Sometimes she gets a little mellow for me...

HOWEVER...

The night she played a duet with Bobby McFerrin at TBF was truly one of the most amazing concert experiences I've had in my life.  At one point, AK and BF had 10,000 people absolutely still.  You could hear a pin drop.  And their voices were bouncing up and down the valley in a perfect reverb.  Truly stunning.

Note: Sorry John, but I had to correct this so your message was outside the original quote. Telluride Tom

Willie, Allison & Jerry Douglas are all playing together this summer. Just saw a CA show announced in July.
Would love all 3 to come to Telluride this year.

Listening to Prairie Home with Chris, Jerry, and Rhiannon, it's like a Festival preview!
I think awhile ago someone here said Willie Nelson was playing in Montana during the Fest. Right now his tour page
http://willienelson.com/tour/
shows him open all of June. I think a stop in Telluride would be the perfect way to fill his schedule. To see him on stage with Jerry and Alison, well, hey, we're already in paradise, so why not.

Willie's doing a show with Alison Krauss in Montana. You can find the information on Alison's page, but it's not on Willie's yet.

Interesting. On Alison's page she has Jerry listed as playing with her on the 17th and 19th. On Jerry's own page, http://www.jerrydouglas.com/performances.cfm, he has listed being at Telluride all four days of the Fest. So who knows. Alison and Willie could come down and be in Telluride by Saturday night.

Not sure what you meant by "a lock" -- It's pretty clear to me that Jerry's website is not as recently updated as Alison's; even Willie's doesn't have all of those dates yet. Willie, Alison, or just Jerry, I'm pretty sure none of them will be there on the 19th, at least, and I assume the AKUS/Willie tour will grow, as well, which could out Jerry unavailable on other dates. This conflict has happened before, if I remember right, where Jerry was just there Sunday - he sat in a few times and performed with the House Band.

Edit: I might be thinking about Bela a couple years ago, when Juno was born, but similar situation where he could only be there one day.
