Really looking forward to seeing him play! 

It's interesting to see who Ry has been playing with lately.  He recently played in Nashville with Steep Canyon Rangers (!).  And check out this lineup from a summer concert:

Ricky Skaggs and Kentucky Thunder & Friends, Bryan Sutton, Tim O'Brien, Stuart Duncan, Ry Cooder, Dailey & Vincent, All Star Jam, & Stuart Duncan, Rambling Rook, Luke Bulla Trio, Forrest O'connor, and Mark Newton & Steve Thomas

Looks like he'll have no trouble getting other great players on the T-ride stage to play along!

Ry has very slowly been making his way back to the stage.  He played with his big band at the Great American Music Hall in SF 3 years ago, which is now a live album.

He has said publicly that the adulation and fuss is not a plus.  He's not a limelight performer by any means.

But the increasing number of performances is very encouraging!

Radavino  I would look into his "Bop til you drop"  CD.  It is an old one, but still fun.  Most of his other stuff we have of his is instrumentals.

Every year I type "Ry Cooder" somewhere in the "who do you want to see next year" thread.  So ... thank you, thank you, thank you!  He first caught my ear in the 1960's with Captain Beefheart and I've been hooked ever since but I've never seen him live.  This is a sublimely great surprise!

Ry Cooder has played on more "hits" than Carter has liver pills. Look up a song by the Monkees called "As We Go Along". Session guitarists include Cooder, Danny Kortchmar, and Neil Young. And Carole King wrote the song.
