Hey Powder.
Thanks for the passionate post.
The exclusion of tents from Bohn Park has as much to do with the conditions of the area post-flood as it does anything else. If you were here last year you know that the park is a wreck. It's unlikely that the walking bridge over the river will even be back before next year's festival season, just for starters...
Combined with the addition of River Bend for this year, which has greatly reduced the "strain" on Meadow Park, it was a decision that made sense.
I'm sorry that you are displeased with the change, but we do not feel we are "moving backwards." We feel we are offering you a better camping option than we can currently provide to tent campers in Bohn Park. Meadow Park is now open to single day ticket holders wishing to tent camp just as Bohn Park has been in the past. This decision was based on the quality of camping we wish to provide you. As you mentioned, there will be a section of River Bend designated for "quiet camping" or "family camping" if that's your main concern.
re: green
Tent camping is a "greener" option than RVs, yes. Much of that determination comes from how an individual uses their RV. A bio-diesel RV coming from Denver, for example, would be much "greener" than a tent camper driving their tent in a big diesel truck to the campground from Kansas.
That said, we are offering more tent camping than ever before and are not planning on offering any more vehicle or RV camping at Bohn than we have in the past.
I hope you find somewhere that suits your needs, and that you find yourself having the best RockyGrass ever in 2015.
