Let me throw out a couple of ideas:  Dave Alvin, Alejandro Escovedo-both are total badass!  Love some of the other suggestions.  I second the Stringdusters for next year.  Peace and hope to see some folks at Kinfolk (I am the crazy aunt in the attic)...

I like the way Jeri is thinking!  Thumbs Up Robert Earl Keen has a bluegrass record coming out and how 'bout: Alabama Shakes, Pokey Lafarge, Sturgill Simpson, Ryan Bingham or Nora Jane Struthers and the Party Line?

Yeah I'll second that notion again, but I'm not holding my breath though.  For starters, I think they'd be too expensive, but I think the other big reason is that PB somewhere along the way became gunshy to possibly creating excess demand (save for M&S for one reason or another).  But in reality, I think the fears of hoards of ticketless fans roaming the streets of Telluride are lost in yesteryear ... it just hasn't really ever materialized in recent times (and I don't think it's necessarily a product of anything PB has done or not done re: this issue).

This all assumes that Bobby gets back in the saddle and the various hatchets have been buried ... at least long enough for a 50th year reunion of the remaining core four.   And that they opt to venture outside of a few "residencies" (have heard one on both coasts and another in Colorado <-- which could be close enough to be lured to TBF if timing is right)

While the GD were certainly not bluegrass, it is clear that Old & In The Way was a pivotal foundation/springboard for progressive contemporary bluegrass as we know it today.  The town park stage has been graced with a large number of musicians who've collaborated directly with Jerry ... almost to the point where he might be considered a "7 degrees of Kevin Bacon person" for the festival over the years (although Sam probably gets around more than anyone, so not saying this literally).

This is to say nothing of what is probably a very large overlap with respect to TBF fans also being GD fans & how the TBF can ride on the coattails of a very large marketing effort for a national 50th reunion tour.   In all seriousness, if price is not an exclusionary factor, I think they deserve serious consideration.   Not looking for a bidding war, but my hope is that either TBF or Blues & Brews will recognize this opportunity and take the necessary steps to make it happen.

Shakey Graves

And how about a solo set on the main stage for Willie Watson.

He just tore it up at Elks Park this year...that man can play with anyone.

I suppose I'd be okay if you brought Gillian and Dave back to play with him. ;-)

I love David Rawlings, but would prefer to see Gillian Welch material on the main stage with some Dave Rawlings Machine in Elks Park!

Also, I second(?) a Dead-related set -- not to open a can of worms, but can it really be worse than an SCI fan base roaming the streets of Tride? Maybe I'm underestimating ...

And by "Dead-related set" I mean the Quintet should play, because ... well ... they rock. Check out that set from Queens a few days ago!!

The last time Phil played in Telluride (2012?), he apparently took the opportunity to allow his sons to play onstage with him ...  given it was a festival (Blues & Brews) and didn't need to sell tickets.  Granted Warren was with him, it was certainly not the "Q".  I had fun regardless & it was nice to see Phil with his sons on stage in Telluride Town Park.

Still hoping "hatchets will be buried" as Bobby alluded to in reference to a 50th reunion ... as well as that he also gets to where he needs to be re: his current hiatus!

If there's no reunion, then sure ... bring on the Q!

I think it's time John Paul Jones got his own set.  He's been lurking around, sitting in, and is currently part of the Rawlings Machine.  JPJ and Friends would be a very memorable TBF set and would recognize his long standing contributions to popular music.

Plus he wrote "The Rain Song"

I'd love to see The Dead Winter Carpenters get to Telluride! INcredible band from Tahoe.

(You can even see me jumping around right in front of Jenny in that one!)

I also think getting Flatland Harmony Experiment back to play a full set would be awesome!

Maybe so, but nothing is a "for sure"....depends on what else they've got up their sleeve
