That was one of the best vocal performances I have ever seen!

That was one of the best vocal performances I have ever seen!

I was stuck in camp with my kids who decided it would be a fine time for a meltdown.   From what I heard from my fellow campers, i beliece the setlist was:

- I'm completely depressed
- This is a melancholy tune
- I'll make you all cry
- Loneliness
- Sorrow
- Grief

One overheard quote, "If this is how she celebrates rebirth, I'd hate to hear her at a funeral"

Don't get me wrong, i'm a huge Alison fan....but she does get a little depressing at times, and from reports I heard, this was a particularly sad set.

 LOL LOL

My kid melted down as well, which gave me a good excuse to get out of the sadness that was AK. I've seen her many times and am a big fan, but I also thought it was a poorly chosen setlist. Del would've ripped it up at that point.  She missed a great opportunity.

If you want to know her set-list, just look up just about any set-list from the last 5 years. Yes, she has a beautiful voice. Yes, she is a very talented musician. But she has't done anything original for years. Except for one song on Traveler.  But most of all, my biggest gripe is AKS herself. Her bus rolls in, an hour before her set, and she was gone again about an hour after the set was done. No pictures, no autographs, no interaction with the festivarians at all.  I guess we should feel privileged just to be able to see her perform in the firs place.  :burn

I have to agree with the last few posts. Alison has a nice voice but her performance is the same each time I see her. And quite frankly, I find it boring. It just doesn't seem like Saturday night headlining material. Steep Canyon Rangers had people up and dancing before Alison put most of my group to sleep.

Perhaps she is still on the mend. Must agree however. Almost fragile ....soft, very pretty but almost fragile. I hope she is ok and I wish her well.

Man, naysaying Alison Krauss?!?   Rolleyes huh this is RockyGrass, not Telluride.

I'm going to heed the adage if you can't say something nice....

I thought their set was PHENOMENAL, angelic, gorgeous, incredible. It was great to hear her at full strength given the voice challenges I heard she had been facing.

 Cheers

Loved all of Dan Tyminski's songs. He was in great voice. He and Jerry Douglas on the "Boy Who Wouldn't Hoe Corn" was the highlight of the night. The acapella stuff at the end was pretty awesome too.
BBC version of "Boy Who Wouldn't Hoe Corn" on You -tube is really good with Jerry Douglas and some Scottish players.
