'Goin to California' was one of my top moments on stage ever!

Going to California with John Paul Jones on the mandolin was also an amazing moment. That was a highlight for me.

Agreed.  That song was in my top 1.   Cheers

Dave Rawlings Machine was definitely my favorite act of the festival.  And the encore was amazing.  Coincidentally, during that set I was standing there on the tarp down front with a girl who actually did have flowers in her hair.

My top 5 tunes, in no particular order
- Going to California
- Big Country with Bela backed by 50 players
- Willie Watson & Dave Rawlings machine singing a sea shanty called Barrett's Privateers at Elk Park. That whole set was off the charts.
- That weird carnival-ish tune that Sam Bush played with maybe Chris Thile? Does anyone have any info on that?
- Almost of the house band tunes. Maybe the one with just Sam & Jerry

That was sick, John!

Too many but I would go with Going to California or Sailin Shoes.

for me Red Clay Halo from the Sara and Sean Watkins elk park set.  Sung by Gillian with the machine on stage, about 30 feet in front of me.  it was huge for me because it's the song i've played and sang in bluegrass picks the most, by a lot.

I keep thinking about Dave Rawlings Machine playing "Queen Jane". Beautiful!

These are all great songs being mentioned, can't go wrong with 'Going to California' or 'Cortez the Killer' but I want to add the 'Could You Be Loved' cover that Greensky performed.  That is such a funky beat and I love hearing Anders and his dobro just shredding it up.

Greensky's "Elk Park Happy Hour Show" was all cover tunes and I expected that one but they saved it for the main stage. Those guys are tight!

Greensky does some really good covers.  Always fun hearing 'Little Red Corvette', 'When Doves Cry', or 'Dancing in the Dark' with string instruments...

I agree with everybody and every song mentioned gave me goosebumps.  But, for me, the coolest thing I heard was Del McCoury playing U2 during the House Band set.

What a freaking great weekend that was.

favorite set of the fest was Salmon's NightGrass show at the Sheridan ...

favorite song from that show was the Beatles cover "Oh! Darling" sung by Drew Emmitt's young daughter ... the look on her face when the audience roared approval at the end of the song was priceless ... one of those tear-jerker moments we'll never forget :)

hope someone recorded the show and uploads it ... thanks to Planet Bluegrass and Festivarians everywhere for another great trip !

I didn't see any tapers in the audience, but the sound guy appeared to have the audience miked, so I'm sure it will go up on live salmon. Of course, you'll have to pay $10 or something like that.

Sorta liked the Machine's version of Monkey and the Engineer. Brought back some good memories.
