Hey guys second TBF but first timer for Town park. I was wondering if the camping is a free for all on tent spots? I assumed it is instead of getting an assigned # spot. If it is the free for all anyone know my chances of getting a decent spot if we are arriving around noon on Wednesday?  Thanks for any info counting down the days!

 Cheers

You will get a spot... but you will also learn why people come early. Also why people have 'large camps'. (My tent/tarp are already in Tride with a friend so he can 'stake my claim' as i can't get there until wednesday afternoon too.) "Good spots" go fast!!

BTW, any spot in Town Park is still one of the best spots on Earth.

I have never been either. I can't get up there until like 11pm on Thursday night and I'm camping at Lawson Hill. Are you saying there isn't going to be any room for me when I get there? I don't really have a friend to send my stuff up with Frown

You'll be fine. My understanding is Lawson has more room to spread out, and regardless, ppl will always be happy to help. No worries!

MelBelle you will be fine. TBF is the kindest community you will find anywhere. Was just saying that the early bird gets the best sites. (Then again i got there very late on Wednesday evening in 2010 and just put my tent down and ended up with a spot about 15 ft away from the Mayor. It was a 'sunny/rocky spot' but hey, i wasn't in it during the sunny day and the airmattress hid the rocks. It was perfect.)  NO WORRIES!! Flower

Most good spots may look like they are gone but some also open up as a few people have to leave.
And any place in the park is great, it's not like you are coming to sleep are you?

Also a TP vigin.  Unfortunately we are not arriving until Thursday afternoon.  Any concerns about finding a spot to set up camp in TP at that point?

Town Park seems to fill up days before the fest starts.  You must be creative in finding a spot if you get there after the land rush.  I think its beyond capacity.

how about warner field?  i'm considering trading my TP for warner, as we're arriving WED am and do not have a crew.

TP and WF will both be crowded, but even late arrivers can usually find a place or three.  If you see an empty tarp, just ask.  Sometimes people lay out tarps for friends who can't make it, or find alternate spots.

a few years ago I set up camp on the river on Wednesday around sunset.  At about 10 pm they came around and told all of us to move our entire camps.  We were able to find spots here and there just by asking, pleading and/or crying the blues.  Festivarians tend to help out whenever and whoever we can.

I would not trade down.  You may get a little closer but there is no shade in Warner unless you make your own.  TP is where it's at.  If you don't mind getting cozy with your neighbors, there is always room.  Some folks are already there, but WED am should be ample time to get a good spot

Hell, at that point, between the festival, nightgrass, and late-night jams, do you even need a camp?
