Shhzzeepers, Pete! That is not too shabby of a prelude or warmer-upper!! Have a great time there!

And ponchom, DRM with Gillian was definitely the highlight of those later announcements for me too.....really looking forward to that!

Even with all of the amazing music there I have to admit I was crushed when Alison Krauss' tour was announced through Saturday night of Telluride....I couldn't believe that my 1st time back since 1996 & I wasn't going to be seeing JD. So KaraJean, I am over-the-top excited about seeing The Earls....& the House Band!!!!

And then there are one or 2 other "ok" bands there too....to the extent that I am concerned about the logistics of obtaining sustenance. Who is interested in a "I'll buy, you fly" deal!?!?

I see the schedule is up and looks like cheese is playing 2:30 hour sets each night ... only $35/ticket for single days.   Camping sold out, but very inexpensive decent hotels within walking distnace.  Except for the heat in the valley, it's now all very tempting!!!

(this is to say nothing of a serious In-N-Out binge)

Stuff I'm excited for:
-My first TBF!!! Stepping foot in that big ol' box canyon for the first time ever.
-Late night Leftover Salmon in the Sheridan Opera House, a venue I've wanted to go to for ages.
-Taking the gondola ride up to the conference center for Yonders' big kickoff party.
-Watching magic unfold between Bela and the accompanying Orchestra as the sun sets.
-Seeing new artists for the first time, Dave Rawlings Machine being at the top of that list.
-Watching Greensky crush the Palm theater on Friday night.
-Pretty much every single act that plays the main stage on Saturday and Sunday. Especially Sam Bush.
-Celebrating the legend that is Del McCoury on Saturday night.
-Festivating the entire weekend with all you fine folks.

I could pretty much go on and on...

We're skipping T-Ride this year for Huck Finn, and couldn't be more excited!  Never seen Dr. Ralph before, add in Sammy, SCI, Keller, Mccourys, Rhonda etc. and you have yourself a nice little festy.  Thumbs Up

I have a couple questions regarding the whole tarp run. 1 is that does this happen every morning? I would like to participate but don't know if I will be able to get up early Thursday after Yonder kickoff.

Also I see on the videos online that some people have pretty massive tarps. Is that generally how its done, and are people particular about their tarp space during the fest?

Yes, there is a tarp run every morning and most
people are very nice, at least in my experience, about
sharing tarps if it's being unused.

Now, I believe size is a bone of contention
with many and the way the lineup for tarps is
handled has been debated rather thoroughly on the
forum. As far as I know, nothing has changed but there
are others who can explain those rules more
extensively for you.

I'm usually sleeping.

Welcome to the machine, moeron221!

Large groups tend to fare out best over the long haul, since they can disperse tarp line duties among several people over the course of the festival as well as invest in drones - which allows for remote spotters & tactical ops during the actual tarp run.

While it is highly competitive, it's still easy to enjoy oneself at the festival without playing the game (or just doing so to a lesser degree).
