Scot30316--We are leaving atlanta on Wednesday 18th too. The last 3 trips we flew in to GJT, rented car and drove 2 hrs in. Flights there weren't too spendy and we could stop at the store etc on the way. However, this year we decided to cut the drive time a little and are flying to Montrose (via Houston stop). Not too much more money and it reduces stress on Monday leaving. If you think you might go to a smaller airport you oughta book soon though. Only a few flights in & out of those and they'll fill up soon.
We shipped stuff out in 2008 -and it worked out- but it was a bit of a PITA. My .02: Buy your camp chair, cooler, towel, pillow, airmattress, etc at the ChinaMart in Montrose and make a free box donation of that stuff when you leave. No reason to haul that sh*t out there. All things considered you can buy it and give it away for what it'll cost to ship it. More important to keep room in your travelin bag for the stuff you need (good hat, jacket, etc) and you can help others when you leave.
