Let's go back to your original post....

"After Telluride I was considering Santa Fe, I've never been but it is one of her favorite places."

Fly into Albuquerque, mail stuff to completejohn before hand, keep the lady happy!!!  Thumbs Up She surprised you with these tickets. I'll venture a guess that she wants to share with you one of her favorite places along the way. Just sayin'....

(don't screw this one up,  The Dude )

Did you ever figure out your plan of action? If I were to come I would be flying from Atlanta too and have been researching best routes.

Scot30316--We are leaving atlanta on Wednesday 18th too. The last 3 trips we flew in to GJT, rented car and drove 2 hrs in. Flights there weren't too spendy and we could stop at the store etc on the way. However, this year we decided to cut the drive time a little and are flying to Montrose (via Houston stop). Not too much more money and it reduces stress on Monday leaving. If you think you might go to a smaller airport you oughta book soon though. Only a few flights in & out of those and they'll fill up soon.
We shipped stuff out in 2008 -and it worked out- but it was a bit of a PITA. My .02: Buy your camp chair, cooler, towel, pillow, airmattress, etc at the ChinaMart in Montrose and make a free box donation of that stuff when you leave. No reason to haul that sh*t out there. All things considered you can buy it and give it away for what it'll cost to ship it. More important to keep room in your travelin bag for the stuff you need (good hat, jacket, etc) and you can help others when you leave.
 Cheers

I try to avoid the Chinamart but for this particular trip, it works like a charm and I can't believe how much stuff I acquired(needed) that was insanely inexpensive so the idea of buying and leaving items in Tride is a no brainer in my book. It makes your air travel much more enjoyable. After all, its a vacation for most and the less hassles, the better. Last year, I gave my cooler, air mattress, etc. to some camp mates who drove but if they did not need, I would have put the items in the box in town.
Also, its not like you are going to a deserted island. While it is more spendy in the mountains, at least you have access to most anything you might forget.
 welcome
