As usual, got shutout .  I only wanted one ticket.  GonePicking certainly did not break any rules, but this is exactly what's wrong with this system.  30 people get together and each orders 10+ tickets, if just 3 of them get at least 10 tickets, the whole group is covered.  If you're not part of a large group, you are at a disadvantage.  Up until last year I'd been to 11 festivals in a row.  The reason I go to the festival is for the incredible music, not to socialize.  I consider myself very friendly but a little shy.

Certainly it's possible to pick up tickets on this forum, but last year it was practically impossible (I checked the "Tickets to buy or sell frequently).

I prefer Warner Field, until it went lottery last year I was always able to get a ticket.  I like the the first come first serve, I think it evens out the odds some when competing against large groups.   But I know it is impossible to come up with a completely fair system.

Just my personal point of view.  Thanks!

Hey, pretzel.  I'm sorry you got shut out. But it's a bit presumptuous for you to call me out as an example of what's wrong with the ticketing system. As it happens, the 14 tickets we tried for were for 8 people. I've never sold a ticket for more than face and last year I gave away my extras to strangers. But even if these tickets were for 2, we would have only been bound by the same rules you were. It was either bad luck or poor preperation that caused you to get shut out, not me. Blaming me without any idea of my situation is in very poor taste. That being said, I hope you find your way to Telluride in in June. Good luck.

The situation gonepickin described is exactly what is wrong with the ticketing system. 4th year in a row I and all of my friends have been shut out. I understand PB helps out their friends, but at some point they need to allow the public a chance.

Hey, Cap'n. Sorry you got shut out. Would you please elaborate on what specific aspect of my situation is so wrong? I assure you, I have no special pull with PB. We entered the lottery like everyone else.

I have to say, I only meant to provide hope with my post,  not incite such criticism.

I also got the too bad notice. Fact is, there are only so many Town Park and Warner Field spaces available, and I suspect the demand for them goes up every year. If I really want to go, there are other options still available. The issue, for me, is how badly do I want to hear themusic.

What really gets me, however, is that scalpers are already selling tickets- both Town Park and single day on ebay. One of them this morning is actually advertising for Mumford and Sons. WTF?

One thing you must remember about the ads on ebay and craigslist... They may not even have tickets that they are selling.

Obviously not, since single day tickets have not even gone on sale. Has there been any official announcement about Mumford?

I thought that Mumford was on hiatus for awhile but I don't follow all the music news that closely.

30 people get together and each orders 10+ tickets, if just 3 of them get at least 10 tickets, the whole group is covered.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't work like this.  Isn't the max 4 tickets per person?  Or maybe you were allowed 4 on each of 2 different credit cards?  I know - you can get other folks to enter on your behalf if they're willing to accept the charge on their credit card, but it doesn't sound like that is what GonePickin' did.

Anyway, we all play by the same rules.  You win some, you lose some.

Incidentally, I lost.  Again.  I've actually never won TP lottery tickets.  Oh well.  See you all there.

I've never won the lottery draw either. But every year me, my buddy, his wife and my sister all play the lotto. We got 2 in 2008, 4 in 2010, 4 in 2013. So i got to go 3 times in 6 years...this isn't a PlanetBluegrass conspiracy. You just enter and hope. On that note, it ends up we were all shut out this year...until my buddy's wife got pulled for 4 TP passes! See ya'll in June 2014 Thumbs Up Cheers Thumbs Up Cheers Thumbs Up

GonePicking certainly did not break any rules, but this is exactly what's wrong with this system.  30 people get together and each orders 10+ tickets, if just 3 of them get at least 10 tickets, the whole group is covered.

This does not appear to be consistent with what's on the Planet Bluegrass website:
http://www.bluegrass.com/telluride/lottery-townpark/index.html

You may request up to four (4) camping passes in either Town Park or Warner Field as your 1st choice. You may optionally also request up to four (4) camping passes in the other campground as a 2nd choice. If we are unable to fill your 1st choice request when your entry is drawn, we will attempt to fill your 2nd choice instead. Town Park and Warner Field passes include a 4-day pass.
If you requested Town Park camping passes as your 1st or 2nd choice, you may optionally request one (1) Town Park vehicle pass. If we are able to fill your Town Park camping request, we will then attempt to fill your vehicle pass request.

Town Park vehicles can be no longer than 24 feet.
You only need a vehicle pass if you intend to camp in your vehicle. Otherwise, convenient free parking is available nearby and you will be allowed to temporarily drive your vehicle into Town Park for loading/unloading.

You may only enter one (1) lottery form per person; one (1) lottery form per credit card or checking account; and up to 2 (two) entries per billing address. If you violate these rules, all of your entries will be disqualified.

My first time trying and I won! I use to go to the TBF back in the 80's, there was no lottery then. The town park camping was just pull up and pitch your tent. I have a feeling that it has changed a bit but I love hanging out with fellow bluegrasser so I know it's gonna be a blast. I'll be practicing my flatpicking trying to get it right. My plan is to load up the truck and leave Jacksonville Fl. the end of May. See all the lucky winners at the festival and I hope the ones that were not so lucky find a way to get a ticket.
