Random Question about Illium

Will there be vendors there in case I don't want to have to spend my vacation cooking my own food?

Also will there be a reasonable to terrific selection of colorado microbrews nearby?

Mary E. Illium Campsite is just a BLM Campground about 7 miles out of town - no services

Ok, yes, there are porta potties - at least there were when I camped there years ago . . . but not much else.  It is a great camping site, though.  Right next to a creek, great views, etc. . . . just a bit removed from the festival.

I have a high school available also if anyone needs it.  They also bring a waer trailer into Illium every morning so you can fill up your jugs.

And ice!  The ice truck comes around twice a day, if I remember correctly.

There's also a guy who brings firewood in daily starting around Tuesday I think. He's a local guy who lives in Ophir. 5 bucks a bundle. Remember :The only fires allowed are at the sites with fire rings. If you find yourself at a site w/o one, which is likely as there are very few... A bundle of wood goes along way toward making friends with a campsite that does!  Also please check fire restrictions and open flame bans before lighting up!! Hopefully the rain gods will do their thing before Fest!

Okay so I'm kind of a moron when it comes to camping.  I don't really even know how to set up a tent but I'm sure I'll figure it out.

Two questions

So at Mary Illium, if I stumble back drunk at 3 AM and get bit by a rattlesnake, what are my options?

Also, showering? I just assumed there would be showers around and that this is not like bonnaroo, but that may not be the case correct?

Lastly, if there are not vendors at Illium, are there places in Telluride where I can grab my 2/3 AM late night snack before heading back to my campground?

Stumbling to Ilium at 3am is not an option, unless to plan to arrive at 8am.  It's a long walk on a road with no shoulders; 7 miles if memory serves correctly.  Can't ever remember seeing a rattlesnake in Telluride.

No showers at Ilium.  You can get off the bus at the high school on the way in to town (on the shuttle) and pay to take a semi hot shower in a high school gym locker room.  I think that's the only option for showers if you're in Illium??

There are vendors at the festival grounds, and they are *awesome*.  You are pretty much in the middle of town when you leave the festival grounds so there are bars open all over with good drunk food.

Also, the last shuttle leaves for Illium at 2am.  You don't want to miss that.

It will interfere most likely (with nightgrass, not the regular festival).  Keep an eye on your watch and know how long it take you to schlep to the Gondola.

It's possible yes.  No guarantees.  You can always make friends and stay in town!  Or, party till the bars kick you out and get in line :-)

When we stayed in Illium, my brother did plenty of nightgrass. If I remember correctly, you're fine to stay to the end of a show, as long as you don't lollygag afterwards. Leave immediately and get in line for the shuttles and you should be fine.

High School camping resolves all of these, and you could get the sleep needed to rinse and repeat...just sayin'   Cheers
