I don't know about "rumors", the only day they could conceivably be there is Thursday, but Craig did mention Thursday's surprise would disappoint no one.
the following quote is from Ferg on 12/19/12

"And, while we still have a couple bands to figure out that we can't announce Friday, we also have a couple bands that we very much know are coming, but we aren't going to announce just yet.

Either of these two bands could sell out Red Rocks by themselves, so we're kinda keeping them quiet for now until the few remaining tickets are gone, we've gone back and forth on this particular debate and I guess, by a whisker, we've decided to try and sell the single day tickets to those wanting to come to see "The Festival", rather than a particular act.

I can say that no one buying a Thursday ticket will be disappointed and don't let the scalpers get 'em!  But not saying any more on that!  Evil"

Well, today's M&S Gentlemen of the Road announcement was thoroughly unhelpful in determining if they're one of the unannounced bands -- for better or worse.

I'm still holding out and stretching far for Paul Simon.

"we've decided to try and sell the single day tickets to those wanting to come to see "The Festival", rather than a particular act."

But how does this work if four-day tickets are already sold out?  If someone wants to come only for these unannounced bands isn't their only choice now to buy a Thursday or a Sunday ticket (but not a four-day festival ticket)?

It seems likely that if the bands are a big draw maybe those that already have Fri/Sat tickets would try and come early..would people really go all the way to Telluride for one show on a Thursday night?

Paul Simon would be siiiiiiiiiiiiick! Especially with the Punch Brothers going on tour with them 2 years ago. I just kind of hope for something different than M&S, for my own personal reasons, and for the fact that they are playing EVERYWHERE this summer at festivals it seems. And they have their own festival. Seems like it wouldnt be as special for the 40th. But then again, I am quite the Noob when it comes to this festival, so it really isnt my place to say.

Hey, Planet?  I know this doesn't matter too much, but I'm not having a great week, and could really use something to make me smile.

Maybe just one more announcement?    Flower

OK, how about a different kind of "Rumour". Thumbs Up

Open tour dates for June 20 and June 23 makes it possible (albeit unlikely).

This spring into summer will be the reunion RUMOURS tour.

Do you know who I'm talking about? LOL

Oh my God.  That would be amazing!

A Bluegrass musician parks his car and walks into his favorite drinking establishment, inadvertently leaving his prized banjo in the back seat, in plain view and door unlocked.  After having a couple drinks, he realizees the error of his ways and immediately runs out to his car to check his back seat.  As he advances on the car his worst fears are realized as he sees the back door open, and, to his dismay, 3 new banjos on the back seat in addition to his own. Wink LOL

I would be thrilled with any of the bands mentioned above.  Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn!  I just can't wait to see y'all!

Ahh...banjo jokes!!  Thanks!!

Whats the difference between a banjo player and a skunk with a tuba?   The skunk might be on his way to a gig.

And where is Railroad Earth this year?  It should be their year.  Here's the link to a video slideshow from their recent pass through Denver.  They were in fine form.  I hope this puts a little smile on your face, Huck.

That's a band that's popular right now, and that I could totally get behind.  Thumbs Up
