Yo Duffy,
I'm a huge Del fan but MEH to Richard Thompson? Out of the hundreds of adjectives to describe him I've never heard that one...while Del and company tear it up with every song they do, RT's Black Vincent is nothing short of AWESOME.
Personally, I hope Planet Bluegrass brings someone to the lineup that no one is expecting...all these folks are nothing short of amazing but we've seen 'em at the Colorado festivals many times. That being said, I am glad to see Sam and Band at the top where he should be. We are spoiled of course, and we've seen 'im hundreds of times, but he remains the most understated talent in ALL of music in my opinion...

different strokes for different folks i guess. love sam too, didn't i say love rest of lineup (other than jackson and richard).
also, what about my del question, think he'll be in telluride for the 40th or just rockygrass?

I doubt it. I'd love to see Del back, but he usually doesn't make it out West more than once a summer anymore. I wish he'd come back, though. What's the 40th without one of the last traditional bluegrass legends?

@Mandhoe- don't you think that's too harsh considering the fact that only two people in the world know what happened that night and only one of them (briefly) was willing to talk about it publicly, the police were called, no charges were ever filed and the accounts of how the injuries were sustained vary dramatically?

@Duffy- check out his first four, "Jackson Browne" thru "The Pretender" about '72 thru '76. Most of his best material is there IMO.

Such passion, such control. Gossip aside, he is a master at delivery

a telluride without del? i would be shocked. besides we would love to see another nightgrass with peter rowan and the travelin mccourys. we thought it was the best nightgrass show we saw last year. it was an incredibly emotional show for kristina and i. I lost two very close family members in 2012 and was having a very hard time saying goodbye to them. man, peter and the mccourys just opened that door for me and i was able to say goodby to both my uncle and niece during the show. i think i cried like a little baby the whole show and had such a huge weight lifted off of me. i slept better that night than i had in months. and they did bluegrass the way it is supposed to be done. the power of the bluegrass music, it never ceases to amaze me.

That is a beautiful story. Music is indeed a healer and can just bring things to the surface. How lucky are we to just be in the same space at the same time. To hear each note, do we hear it the same, each word, do they have different meanings to us all. It is one of lifes beautiful gifts to come together in music and dance. Cheers
