Hi Tom and Fellow Festivarians,
This year will be my 4th and, just as I think I'm getting the hang of TP camping and line-sitting, I get Warner Field tix. All things are good and well and according to plan, BUT, I don't know when I can get in line to get into the field? I hope to pull into town on Monday afternoon. I'll be the 1st of my 4-person party, the rest of which will show up on Tuesday night.

All that said, do I need to get a room somewhere or will there be camping somewhere for a one person for Monday night? Or, more importantly, will the line already be started on Monday?

Any thoughts or suggestions appreciated.

Counting the days,

Aleaza

I have a friend who got tix and town park camping but I am struggling with getting there the weekend before the fest to claim a spot.  He wants to get there the sat before the fest.  I probably won't be there til mon or tues.  Would like to have my vehicle inside to sleep in.  Is it possible to swap vehicles half way through the week or is the vehicle pass specific to the first vehicle inside?  Also, we are talking about leaving mid day sunday to avoid traffic and make it back home by monday.  Is it ok to drive a vehicle out sunday?  I know, lame questions about arriving late and leaving early.  But hey, we will take what we can get!
If you were lucky enough to score a vehicle pass it should be the first one there.
The ticket will be traded for a sticker that is firmly attached to the inside of the windshield and will not easily transfer from one vehicle to the other.
Whatever vehicle you stick it to better be one that you are sleeping in such as an RV or camper, cause there are very few vehicle passes available and should not be used just to have your car close by. That's not the festivarian way.
I'd try to change your plans to be there Saturday. Thumbs Up

I always sleep in my rig, but I guess it isn't completely necessary.  Is is possible to sell/trade the vehicle pass?  What are the parking options if I choose to get rid of the pass?

Free parking is available for every festivarian. Since there are about 1200 Town Park campers and only 30 vehicle passes it's never a problem selling or trading it. I know plenty of people that need them due to medical issues so if you can get by without it you will become a more valued festivarian. Thumbs Up

You may be able to find a place down valley or in Ridgway to camp.
The town of Telluride frowns on sleeping in your car, but farther down valley it may be possible.
Since it's only one night it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to set up a campsite.
A room would be cheaper in Montrose and it's only about an hour and a half drive on Tuesday. Thumbs Up

Can anyone tell me whether or not you need a town park camping pass to wander around town park and listen to the jams at night? We are camping elsewhere but don't wanna miss the great music! thanks!  Cheers

Starting on Thursday of Fest, you need either a TP or a Warner Field wrist band to get into Town Park. Town Park is officially open on Land Rush Saturday (The Saturday before fest) and between then and Wednesday night, you can come visit all you want. Where are you camping? Illium has some nice late night jams, as well. I imagine Lawson does, too, but you probably won't find any at the High School.

What Sugar said is correct... AND, can we please urge people not to buy tickets for TP if they are not camping there..... There are many, many people who have no tickets at all yet including most of the "historical Town park camps" who host most of the activities and picks there that people have heard about...

Hi everyone-
Looking forward to our first experience at TBF!  We were lucky enough to score 4 tickets to TP camping but due to work obligations (ah, the joys of being in healthcare!), we can't get to the site until Tuesday night.  How late is it possible to set up a tent site?  Debating having to stay at a hotel somewhere Tue night and set up camp Wed morning if it's too late to pitch tents.  Also, how likely is it to get an area large enough for 2 small 2-man tents Wed morning?  Any tips on how best to make this happen would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks all!

I can't speak to how difficult it will be to find spots for your tents, but you'll be fine to set up camp whenever you get there. Just make sure to have some headlights easily accessible to help. Most people you ask would be happy to help you find a spot, so don't be afraid to ask around.

You can set up your tent as late or as early as you want- there no set times for entry considering your Tuesday or Wed arrival.

Better to get there Tuesday night if you can do it safely. It's already going to be crowded but 2 2-person tents can probably squeeze in. Of course if you arrive really late Tuesday then it will be tougher for some of your new best friends to help you.

What time were you thinking of arriving Tuesday? You'd probably be cool rolling in before midnight.

Thanks everyone!  That's very helpful.  We land in Denver at 4:30pm and will then hit the road to get into Telluride.  Sounds like it's worth setting up camp that night.  Looking forward to meeting many of you there.  Counting down the days!

Just be careful out there.   Especially the ridgway -> Telluride stretch.   Lots of Elk wandering the dark, looking for the chance to ruin your week by getting in front of your car.

I always advocate getting to Telluride ASAP, but if you aren't familiar with the drive, it can be safer to stop somewhere.
