-With the vehicle pass, are we reserved a spot? Or should we plan to arrive a few days in advance ensure we get a decent spot? How early?
-we plan to bring a 4Runner and tents. Will everyone else’s vehicle be a RV? If so, are we crazy to not have the RV?  Nevermind. Just read elsewhere no RVs!
-Will RVs be prohibited  to run generators or will it be loud AF? NM- no rvs. Sweet. Just the sound of music

Hey Mac,

Welcome to Town Park!  Prepare for one of the best summers you've had to date!

So here's the deal with the vehicle passes: Camping in Town Park is likely different from most other festivals you may have been to in the past.  With Town Park, vehicle passes are extremely limited and they are unofficially reserved for those with mobility issues, medical concerns, or those who are expecting or with young children.  These vehicle passes are absolutely crucial for some folks to even be able to attend the fest and thus shouldn't be utilized just to have your vehicle in camp (unless you are sleeping in your vehicle and have the above ailments).  There is ample free parking and you'll be able to drop off all of your gear near where you camp.

There's always a list of folks who need these passes to be able to attend TBF so if you have one and want to be a good Festivarian, please contact debbiefromtucson who will get them in the right hands.

As for everything else about TBF 2020, definitely read through this thread and check out the summary here.

Feel free to follow up with any other questions here!

Your vehicle pass doesn't reserve you a spot and as Todd mentioned if just for parking your 4Runner you would be better selling it to someone who really needs it, and they have free parking as once you get there and you most likely won't be driving anyway once the music starts. A lot of us Festivarian's like to arrive at least the weekend before the festival, and many consider those days before to be the best part of the festival. So welcome to town park, get here as soon as possible and say hi and we'll be happy to help you enjoy the week.

TellurideTom and Ron n Deb.....  thanks for hosting this forum. Lots of good info.

Much to our surprise, we struck gold on a town park vehicle pass and 4 TP camp passes this morning on seetickets.   Looking forward to meeting everyone and hoping the festival veterans had already earned a spot through tenure. Few questions for the pros.

That might be a little misleading. There are still camping tickets for Lawson Hill. You are 100% right about Town Park camping is sold out. You will still need a festival 4 day pass which is also sold out.

This pass provides camping for 1 person at the Lawson Hill campground during the 49th Annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival.

This camping pass requires a 4-day pass or single-day ticket to the festival.

Camping is sold *per-person* not per-site.
The Lawson Hill campground is located 4 miles west of the town of Telluride, accessible by a free festival shuttle. The Lawson Hill campground is open from Tuesday, June 14 at 8am thru Monday, June 20 at noon.
Tent camping only. Parking is available nearby.
Children 12 and under are free with a paying adult.
All Telluride Bluegrass tickets are refundable if returned on or before March 4, 2022. No returns after March 4.

FYI:
Any tickets that become available after the refund deadline of March 4th will be released here on a Tuesday between 10am and 2pm mountain time. There is no waiting list. Good luck!

Camping passes are still available here.

We have been to many TBF's, but always camped at Ilium. If we can't get to Town Park until Monday afternoon, will we still be able to find a spot big enough for a family with kids and a big tent? Or are we better off going to Warner Field when we can be there the day it opens? Thanks!

Hey there!  The closer you get to the Fest, the more people will pile in and everything will become more crowded.  The later you show up from Saturday, you’ll still find a spot BUT you may need to be a little more adaptable as time goes on.  Everyone who has a ticket WILL have a place to camp.  If you show up Monday you probably will end up with a smaller spot than you had at Ilium but you'll still be able to squeeze in just fine.  However, if you want room to spread out a little more and your kids might be bothered by noise at all hours of the night, Warner might be a better option for you.  Hope that helps!

Thanks so much! My kids have been going to bluegrass festivals since they were babies and are happy mountain camping kids, so the late night picking is not a problem... Biggest concern is having enough space for a 6 person tent and an easy up since we cook all of our meals. Would love to get in before Wednesday as we are coming straight from Pagosa bluegrass fest. Does the primitive area fill up as quickly as the others? Any hope for finding more space there on Monday? Thank you!!

Monday, deep in the primitive, there's probably some space. You might make a separate post about families in TP and look for others who might get there before you and save the required space. But like Lucas said, there will be lots of options on Monday morning, but no primo spots, and you might have to creatively squeeze in. If Pagosa doesn't have music Sunday night you might consider coming Sunday, and surely have many more options.

Of the Town Park area, Primitive fills up the last and is generally quieter (as long as you camp away from Cat Fact Corner haha).  I remember walking around there in 2019 (the last 'real' fest) on Monday (for Todd's infamous fish fry) and there were a couple of spots for a setup of your size (full sun).  Be mindful that getting your stuff back to Primitive will be much more of a haul over uneven terrain than Warner.

Hello from Wisconsin! The calendar officially showed 60 days out this am— we are so excited! My wife and I are returning this year with our 4 year old. Our last visit was 2018 and during that trip and previous we never ventured toward the back of the concert grounds aside from using the restroom or picking up merch so the set-up and logistics isn’t as familiar as the planning and strategy for tarping near the stage.

Two quick questions and apologies if someone else has asked and answered previously—- (1) We have a Kelty Sunshade we use for summer festivals around here and we’re curious if that’s okay to bring or not. At the center it’s 7 ft tall and interior is 78 sq ft. (2) The other question is whether there are two tarp lines or one (and if a second line where is it?) and if both are a lottery system?

Thanks for any help/insights!

Hello from Wisconsin!

 Wave

(1) We have a Kelty Sunshade we use for summer festivals around here and we’re curious if that’s okay to bring or not.

Yes, shade shelters are allowed in designated areas (toward the back).  Keltys are slightly controversial because they're not see through (unlike a 10x10 EZ Up as an example) but there are tons of them at the fest so you'll be fine.  Just be mindful of where you set it up and try not to hog a sightline if possible.

2) The other question is whether there are two tarp lines or one (and if a second line where is it?) and if both are a lottery system?

Hey Festy Friends!
This year our crew is planning to post up a flag at camp (maybe) but definitely while inside the festival.   What are some recommendations for flag poles?  There’s no need to be the tallest by any means, but certainly tall enough not to impede on anyone’s view.  What do folks use for wind, stability, durability, etc. Obviously dont want the pole falling down  Swearing   I have a feeling most are homemade, in which case I’ll get to planning.

Thanks for the recs! (if I missed the page where this is discussed, point me in the direction - I’ll check it out!)

See you soon!  Butterfly Clap
