Looking to find out what options I'm going to have for food in town, and in the festival from vendors for Gluten Free food.  Also, do they serve GF beer at the KOTO tent???  Any other GF peeps that have experience with this in Telluride? Thanks for any info you can provide!

Bacon is gluten free!!

The beer tent is all New Belgium beer, but not the entire range of their offerings.  Count on Fat Tire, Sunshine Wheat, and a couple others.  Not sure if any are GF but check with them now so you know what you can handle when you arrive.

I was a gluten free vegan for about a year (no longer). One of the few items in town I found was the vegan plate at La Cocina (with corn tortillas) as being gluten free & vegan. If you eat meat, dairy, and eggs, then you're options are much wider.

Baked in Telluride now has some gluten free baked goods (bread and such).

 Wave, I am Gluten free for the past several years, no GF beer in the festival, they do sell Wine inside the festival, The only GF food option I saw a couple years ago was the Boulder Brats are GF if you don't get the bun. I usually just bring all my own food and we cook by ourselves, I am too nervous about being cross contaminated. FYI Crunchy Frog is GF Wink
I am excited to hear that Baked in Telluride now has GF options, I will probably check it out early in the week so just in case it contaminated I won't  waste a day of the festival.

Awesome...i didn't see this thread, and had just posted in another thread about gluten free.

My personal experience, when i went Gluten free just to "support the boys", I experienced a plethora of positive results...it was pretty amazing...

Anyhoo, psyched about Baked!  Any other tips?  We're doing GF, but we're all-in when it comes to meat

The golden crumb booth at the farmer's market normally has one or two gluten free pastries (chocolate cookie).  Great non gluten free stuff too (raspberry bars are great healthier, but calorie loaded, snacks).

I forgot:  Aemo (kitty corner from Siam - on Pacific st.) normally has at least one or two gluten free options from their deli counter.

Speaking of which, you might be able to find something on Siam's menu which is GF ... something with rice noodles.

I wasn't as particular about cross-contamination ... since I'm not celiac, but had tested positive for "moderate food allergies" which included both wheat and gluten.  It's more of a cumulative baggage of inflammation thing vs. immediate "allergic shock" of a celiac.  So, can't really speak too closely to how well any of the above mentioned is for being totally "on it".

I too am GF (well, allergic to wheat, so basically GF).  I am not as sensitive to it as some folks, so please keep that in mind for any suggestions.  I have found the festival food somewhat tricky to navigate, but OAK has a couple great options, as does the Indian place.  Outside the fest, I have found Cocina de Luz to have good options but not sure about contamination.  If I remember correctly, one of the markets has GF pasta and bread.  Breakfast in town is a bit difficult but Butcher and Baker has some good GF options.  My go too snack in a pinch is cheese and sausage as a finger roll or on nut crackers, with a bit of mustard! (or bacon). Hope that helps! Would love to hear any break through you find during the fest!

Miki, some folks are super allergic to the gluten in certain foods. Sad, but true, and we all have a better time if they are feeling good at...

Baked in Telluride is a facility that produces wheat based foods;  reasonable effort is made to keep things separate. 
Bakery items include blueberry muffins, two kinds of bread (the flax bread, a hearty item, is especially good).  Traditional New York items that have always been free include coconut macaroons and chocolate dipped coconut macaroons.  Our latest gluten free hit is the Almond Horn, made from almond paste, egg whites, sugar, apricot glaze and almonds.  Another WOW item is the gluten free wildflower honey pecan berry pumpkin spice cookie.
Try our salads: hold the croutons on the cesar; tacos are made on organic locally made corn tortillas, as is the enchilada plate.  No wheat in the Double Black Angus Chili (black beans).  We'll try to keep these in stock during the Festival.

Thanks for all the replies peeps!  I feel that it'll be easier than expected to eat Gluten Free in T-Ride. It also sounds like I'll be spending alot of time in Baked in Telluride! Thanks Chief Bagel for the detailed menu! See you soooooon!

I found out I have celiac disease, so I have an auto-immune disease, which my body can not process the proteins found in some grains, the three main ones are wheat, barley and rye. Which really stinks since I can't drink beer anymore, they do have a few good GF beers available now though. I feel so much better now that I am gluten free. Some people are gluten intolerant and other people are allergic to wheat. So there can be a number of reasons people avoid gluten. We can discuss it morein TP over an apple cider (GF of course) Wink
