Festivarians - I was a newbee last year and enjoyed the Festival to my wildest dreams, however we camped out at the Matterhorn CG outside of town and down towards Rico, 12 or 14 mile outside of town.  It made for early evenings since I didn't want to over indulge and drive back to the camp in a less than safe situation.  And DUI is not something I can afford or want to chance and I'm certain you can appreciate.  This year we've hit the jackpot and have secured camping reservations at the Mary I. campground.  We will be bringing our 21 ft trailer and my question is this, are there reserved spots for trailers or is it a first come situation?  I plan on arriving on Tuesday so I'm hoping I won't have issues but wanted to see what the experts have to say. Thanks in advance.

Everybody should go get a $10 fire extinguisher to have around.  10,000 of them in Tride could be a game changer if needed.

The two campers who started the biggest fire in the history of NM last year were just fined 2 MILLION dollars for their actions, which was simply leaving a camp fire before it was totally out.

Let's be smart and safe.

It's pretty much first come, first served.
Just be aware that you will be required to have a vehicle pass for your trailer.
As far as your car, I think it may have to be parked elsewhere as well if it doesn't have a pass.

Thanks Tom, I have secured a vehicle pass for the trailer, but we'll plan to park truck in the parking area, hopefully somewhere nearby.

You'll be fine on Tuesday-there will be plenty of spots for you.  Keep in mind that there are no hookups at all for you at the campground, although fresh water is usually available from a trailer and porta-johns are set up.

Porta johns and water, wow, that's even better than we had expected.  I'll have 45 gallons with me I just need to manage the other stuff.

Cheers

IF (god forbid) it ever got crazy, the last thing we'd want would be Festivarians putting themselves in harms way.

However, having a small fire extinguisher at camp is a fantastic idea. Medal

So my question is I have a vehicle pass for my trailer for the CG, but where can I park my truck? I'm assuming outside the CG along the road is acceptable?

There will be some staff there to direct you as to where to put your truck, but essentially you are correct.
