I just wanted to say again that I really appreciate all the tapers' efforts and generosity.  Now I can re-live the experience all the way until next year.

This is soooooo much better than it was back in the days of actually bootlegging the festival, having to conceal the deck on the way in, hide the mics, get crappy tapes and then never getting around to transferring them.  Tapers rock!

thanks you guys, just doing what comes natural.  i've put up all i have that's in stereo.  the early half of the weekend i recorded in dual mono Argh ( the last thing i recorded was a radio interview where i needed both mics to come from l and r)  d hami was patched out of me in stereo and is currently dithering to 44/16.1 what he got, and paul r is also a source, as is bobbygeewow.  if i must, i will post up any missing stuff in the dual mono format if need be.

John,
Recorded in stereo is one thing, but does the big PA actually broadcast in stereo?  Since you have to hear it all, wherever your tarp is, it seems like the PA is one big two-channel mono rig.  But I'm just guessing.  I'd always heard the Dead's PA was a huge, two-channel mono setup, but anything you heard at a Dead show had to be taken with a huge grain of something anyway.

Bevin, TBF is mixed in stereo.  the separation may be subtle at times, but stereo for sure.   The Dead's shows were also mixed in stereo, afaik.  there were at least 11 channels for the wall of sound.

Things are getting technical. Long gone are the days of holding a mini-cassette recorder up for the duration of a show.

If there are any copies of Greensky Bluegrass I'd love to get ahold of it so I could  get a copy to the band.
