Four Corners Fest

Well.....

I started this thread and now we have decided to once again forgo the Four Corners Festival. With great regret. Our reasons are sound however. Last Friday, mule.net (the Gov't Mule website) announced one of four North American Warren Haynes solo acoustic shows, two of which are in Colorado. Sept 2 at the Mishawaka and the following Monday in Aspen at the Belly up.

Warren Haynes solo is one of the best live sets I've ever seen. So it's off to the Mishawaka Inn for Warren.

The other consideration was one of being hideously boring and practical.

Sorry you aren't going, Paul.  However, I now NEED to go to get over this post-Rockygrass depression I'm suffering from.  We were thinking of driving down after work on Thursday, which would put us there about 9:30pm.  Will that be enough time to secure a decent campsite or should we take off earlier?   There will be six of us.

I don't really know as this would have been my first time to four corners. My understanding is that If you have camping passes. there is always a good place to camp.


The thing that bums me out is that I won't be getting my Wilders fix. It's been way to long, I'm deep in Wilders withdrawl.....

the Wilders will be playing Winfield this year. They have pretty much become regulars there.  Maybe you would like to make a trip to Kansas?

Hey there Paul,
4 Corners opens at 11:00 a.m. (I believe) for vehicles and 3:00 p.m. for all others. Check out the Folkswest website for specifics. Camping anywhere is great and is not as compressed at other festivals, or doesn't have to be anyway.
There are a lot of great work shops that you can attend at 2 different areas and sometimes they use the childrens tent too.
A couple of fun things for the kids including great things at the kids tent, my favorite is watching the activities on Sunday morning, always something special!
Hot Springs deal is something that you should do, a gentle walk down the mountain for a soak is such a pleasure.
Night time picking has always been great, even when it rained one year, still good jams.

So.... how goes the unloading and loading at Four Corners?  I didn't get a vehicle pass, but have friends who did.  I understand that you can't pull your car into camp and unload like you can in Telluride and Lyons.  How else do we get our stuff to camp?  Do I need to purchase a little red hauling wagon or what?  How far is the walk from parking to camping?  I'm horribly confused but I'm sure some patient festi-veteran will help me out!!

Additionally, if we get there late Thursday night, is that in enough time to score a good camping spot or should I take half a day on Thursday and get down there early evening?  Advice?  Suggestions?  Words of wisdom?

What kind of deal can we get if we ALL go in on a group week pass to the Hot Springs?

Hot Springs details: you can only get a deal if you purchase a week pass and have up to 5  people. Deal is that the first one is $52.00 and the next 4 are $35.00. With 5 this is $38.50 each, a great deal when you see that each day is $17.50!
We are getting it together to save some $$$$!

I'll second that - the week pass is the only way to go.  If you buy a day pass, it's really only for a single visit and you can't come and go throughout the day.  And at $17.50 per day, if you include the obligatory soak and shower before pulling out of town on Monday after the Festival, you'll quickly justify the price of the weekly pass.  But maybe expect a slight weekend hike in prices at the Springs due to the Festival.  I think they've done that in the past.  Maybe not this year, though, I could be wrong.
