Each year I offer up what has in the past been a somewhat accurate prediction of the weather
for the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. This is not a forecast as it's too hard to determine that far
in advance what the weather will be, so it is only a prediction.  Thumbs Up

TBF 2012 Weather Prediction

For the week before the festival (June 9 - June 16)
Cool and cloudy - Chance of rain 60-80%
Winds 15-20 mph with gusts to 45 mph
High temperatures in the 50's and 60's Farenheit
Low temperatures in the 30's and 40's Farenheit

For the week of the festival (June 17 - June 24)
Warmer with fewer clouds - Chance of rain 10-30%
Winds 2-10 mph occasional gusts of 20 mph
High temperatures in the upper 60's to low 80's Farenheit
Low temperatures in the low 40's to mid 50's Farenheit

Although there was approximately 3 inches of snow last year on Sunday night/Monday morning it
was technically after the festival and not included in last years prediction. That's my disclaimer,
and I'm sticking to it.  Wink

Thanks, Tom.  When you post this, I realize just how close I am to being back there...YAY!!!

As I like to say (and kept reminding folks last year as we got ready for Mumford and Sons)...

There is no such thing as "bad" weather when you are at festival...it's either bad preparation, bad gear, or a bad attitude!

In Peace,
Michelle

Tom, I so hope that you are correct on the temps....but just a warning, it has been unseasonably hot and dry throughout the whole state since February....For instance, living in the coldest valley in the state (Gunnison), this is the first year in 5 that I have veggies already sprouting in my cold frame, and some annuals have broken the ground (a month earlier than usual). Also, the ants came out 2 months earlier than normal...weird weather here in the mountains - like more than usual!

Hope you're right, Tom. We were hanging out with some fellow festivarians here in OH last night, and the consensus we came to was that we are due for a warm and dry festival this year.

We hope, anyway.

Regardless, we're gonna have fun. Cheers

I got out and starting practicing today. I sat out in my friend's yard in the valley and had a few drinks in the sun. No music or dancing yet. I figure I'll work up to it. We're getting close!!!!

Swander, I don't need to get warmed up. The practice just seemed like a great excuse to sit in the sun and look at the mountains. Trust me, this 20 year old festi-vet doesn't need to get warmed up to festivate. But it never hurts.  LOL
