This is truly a sad day in Nashville, along with the rest of the world.

May the joy of this man's music fill all our hearts today and for many days to come. The Bluegrass world, and music in general, has lost a real treasure of a musician with Mr. Scruggs passing.

Rest In Peace, Earl.

I'd first like to thank the Lord for blessing all of us (those who know him and those that think he ain't there) with such an amazing and inspirational finger blazing maestro. Master Scruggs has been recognized by so many (and scrutinized by a few jealous) as the true revival for a classic American instrument (the 5). His 3finger style and diastimic smile has put a song in our hearts that keeps our feet tapping and cheeks grinnin. He has shared his gift with all of us for almost his entire life and leaves us with many breakdowns that keep us from breakndown. He truly is the reason I picked my first string.
     It was the late 80's( early 90's?) I was sitting and sulkin on my uncles porch in crossville, tn. My cousin was pickin on me for my gapped front teeth and my aunt come out with her banjo and in the case was a black book with yellow letters that just read EARL SCRUGGS. She opened it up to a picture of this happy fella who was always smiling and wasn't shy about it either. Then she played a recording of him and Lester and well I was hooked. My first job I cashed my first check, payed my the tenth, and then bought the Kay on the wall and I still got the old black book. He will be missed but is in my ear  and my heart every time I roll my fingers Thank you.  TIMTIMTM
