Another bluebird day in Dgo today.  Not windy either. If the weather stays like this for TBF it'll be perfect!  It was actually kinda hot today, compared to the last couple of weeks.

Flying into Denver from Boston yesterday I was amazed at how far the smoke covers Colorado especially up and down the front range.   Visibility was minimal and the smell is definitely in the air

So I just checked out the visittelluride.com webcam and it appears to be a bit hazy in the box canyon...hopefully the winds die down and they get a handle on this fire in the next few days!

We're coming from Phoenix and were just talking about if we would be inconvenienced on our way to Telluride later this week.  Last year we got re-routed on our way back from festi due to fires.  We spent a lot of time on the phone with ADOT trying to get updates on highways that had been closed.  I know in AZ there is a quick hotline you can reach by dialing 511 (I think), not quite sure of the out-of-state number we used to check on our way back.  Their website, http://www.azdot.gov/ has interactive maps that can sometimes be useful for planning around closures, etc.  We are leaving Friday so if we come across any closures causing us problems between now and then we'll post 'em in the forum.

Update: found the out-of-state ADOT number: (Outside Arizona, dial 1-888-411-ROAD (7623) or 602-523-0244)

The US-191 is for sure closed.  I suspect you'd be going through Show Low, however, and I wouldn't think there'd be any closures that far west.

Also, the smoke in Tucson is probably from the fire between Tubac and Arivaca.

SR 273, SR 261, US 180, and SR 260 are all closed in the Springerville area.

SR 77 , US 60 through Globe is open to Show Low

191 would only be closed south of Eager/Springerville.  So you could probably take SR-70/US-60 to Show Low, US-60 to SR-61, SR-61 to St. Johns, and US-191 up to I-40.  Unless there is a new fire on the other side of the White Mountains this week, that route should be OK.

WHOA! EEK!  Just getting off Phish tour and back to reality--have only heard a tiny bit about the fires in AZ...didn't have any clue they were smoking out all of southwest Colorado too!  I sure hope the wind calms and these get contained.
