Hey guys, I was thinkin' I'd make a mix CD (or CDs) for the drive to Telluride this year that showcases only artists that will be playing.  I thought I'd open it up on the forums for suggestions of everyone's favorite tracks.

I'll be happy to post the final playlist and perhaps I'll make a bunch of copies to give out at the fest!

Trampled by Turtles is my favorite band and it would be tough to name a favorite track but 'Stranger' from the Trouble album would be a great place to start.

A 2011 CD is a GREAT idea!  I suggest "Big Country" by Bela Fleck and the Flecktones.  It's the ideal tune for driving through the mountains as you approach Telluride.

Walk Beside Me - Tim O'Brien & Darrell Scott
Hard Livin - Railroad Earth
Same Old River - Sam Bush
It's a Great Day to Be Alive - Darrell Scott
On The Run - Yonder
Circles Around Me - Sam Bush
Rox in the Box - The Decemberists
Colorado - Railroad Earth
Whole Lotta Love - Led Zeppelin (go with Sam Bush's performance)

If the trip was long enough, I'd listen to his entire discography on the trek down there. If only I lived on the east coast . . . Cheers

I think I might just plop down every single mp3 I have onto a thumb drive and put that sucker on shuffle for the eight hours it takes me to drive there.

But here are a few...for driving I lean towards fast songs:
Trampled By Turtles - Wait So Long
Railroad Earth - Crossing The Gap
Decemberists - This Is Why We Fight
The Head and The Heart - Down in the Valley
Steve Earle - This City
Nora Jane Struthers - Greenbriar County
Punch Brothers - Don't Need No
Old Crow Medicine Show - Take 'Em Away
Yonder Mountain String Band - Left Me In A Hole

Ooh - good post!

In no particular order ...

Ditto "Down in the Valley" by the Head & the Heart - infectious as anything!

Punch Brothers - This Is The Song

Tim O'Brien - Long Black Veil (an epic version of this song!)

Joe Pug - Hymn #35 OR Bury Me Far (From My Uniform)

Chris Thile & Michael Daves - anything from the forthcoming album; sign up at Nonesuch.com for a free mp3 download from it!

Sarah McLachlan - Angel (w/ Emmylou Harris)

Cornmeal - The Chicken or the Egg

Decemberists - Rise To Me

Railroad Earth - Roll In My Sweet Baby's Arms

Abigail Washburn - Divine Bell
