Question from a Newbie, Vegetarian Eats Question

Does Bacon flavored peanut brittle pass the vegan test?

There's normally vegetarian option inside the fest for:  pizza, stir fry, indian booth might be entirely vegetarian, burritos, and various sides.  Sister's spinach & cream cheese wontons are vegetarian (oil?), although I made the mistake of asking for "wontons" two years ago, assuming they were s&cc, but it was a pork flavor ... they were out!

Unlike the northwoods of Wisconsin, you'll find at least one decent vegetarian option at 99% of the restaurants in Telluride.   La Cocina has a "vegan plate", which is great, but they raised the price recently by 20% (on that item).

If you're coming from either Montrose or Durango, I'd suggest stocking up at the Vitamin Cottage / Natural Grocers.

No, but originally from Chicago ...  so was up there a lot growing up.  Went back for a trip a little while ago & found it to be THE most difficult region for eating out as a vegetarian.  Still an amazing area though!   Are you a cheesehead?

Yep, I'm from the Minocqua area (live in Green Bay now). It is hard finding vegetarian stuff up there, but it's getting better. It's great to hear that there are going to be some veggie options in Telluride-I was really hoping to not bring a bunch of food with me!! Thanks!

Glad this thread was started.  I'm a "born again" vegetarian.  Became one on Thanksgiving 2010 and feel amazing because of the change!  Last year at TBF I was all about the corn dogs...lol...this year I'm definately going to try the veggie stirfry.  If you don't mind spending a little more, there is an amazing Thai restaurant in town...I can't remember the name, but you can make almost any dish vegetarian

Cool!  I was in Eagle River in my last visit ... but traveled a bit towards Minocqua to "Blink Bonnies" for dinner one evening ... and even their (frozen) pizza option was only sausage.  I think I had a salad, but my brother told me they had great steaks!

Hopefully, Baked in Telluride will be open by bluegrass ... which has a lot of vegetarian options.

3poppies, glad to hear you are back on the wagon.  I am sure I will be cooking different veggie meals if you want to cook up a feast together.  Not sure what I will be cooking up yet, but some of my past camping meals have been coconut curry stir fry, seitan philly cheese steaks, pasta with veggies and fake meatballs, tofu scramble, taco night, etc.

You folks need to head down to Camp Billy, in the bowl, (just ask anyone once you arrive) and look for the tepee, yes, a real live tepee. Several folks that camp down there ride the same wagon and can probably give you tons of tips for dinning in town.

Now, would it be possible to refrain from the use of the word "fake" in conjunction with the word "bacon". It's just........... just... well, a four letter word..... and Hooch's therapist bill isn't getting any lower......
