I guess I'm a bearer of bad news, but I just learned that Charlie Louvin passed away last night after a long fight with pancreatic cancer. I was lucky enough to see Mr. Louvin perform a couple of years ago -- he brought a gusto to the stage that I wouldn't have expected from an 80-something year old man who'd lived a life on the road and, as a result, I got more into the Louvin Brothers (whose "Atomic Power" I'd become introduced to in the '90s through the Uncle Tupelo cover).

I thought some festivarians might be interested in knowing this.
