We're going to announce the complete preliminary lineup sometime late tonight.  But we wanted to highlight one more very special Solstice weekend treat...


Much like Bela Fleck did for the banjo, this performer revolutionized what was possible on his instrument.  He revolutionized his instrument's technique.  And he revolutionized its use in numerous settings - duos, trios, as a soloist with symphonies...

As a member of our Telluride House Band.  (Who, by the way, will be returning once again this June featuring Sam, Bela, Jerry, Bryan, Stuart, and this virtuosic gentleman)

But it has literally been decades since we have seen the upright bass re-invented in a completely solo unaccompanied setting on the Telluride stage.  (He last performed solo prior to New Grass Revival in the late 80s) 

And re-invented it will be.  With fiery passion and delicate beauty by the genius that is...












[ Try wrappping your hand around your keyboard to reach the down-arrow key like you would high up on an upright bass fingerboard... ]












[ Go ahead... do it.]












[ Now make that down-arrow key sing with a gorgeous vibrato (like this MacArthur Genius Grant recipient)... ]













We are thrilled to present Edgar Meyer.  Performing a very rare set of solo unaccompanied double bass.

You've all heard him in enough settings to have a rough idea - the breathing, singing quality of Edgar's touch on the bass. 

But this solo set is going to be something else entirely.  Intensely physically demanding but also deeply sensuous.  Incomprehensibly virtuosic yet profoundly emotional.  Whatever you do in Telluride this June, make sure you're planted on your tarp and focused for this set.

This is great news. And Hooch I can't agree more. I've been telling folks for years that I have never seen anyone make a musical instument their "bitch" like I saw him do one evening. Truly unbelievable.

Maybe it's just me, but I think of Edgar and his bass more as a harmonious life partnership.
