Telluride Bluegrass Fest -- 2011

URL icon « Reply #135 on: November 21, 2010, 10:45:17 PM »

So many great suggestions/wishes thus far!

I have to throw another shout-out for Blackberry Bushes, Mumford and Sons, and adding on Spring Creek Bluegrass Band (2007 New Band Winners) .. everyone is in for a treat if TBF can get them back for 2011.

And, of course, Steve Martin.  That would be Nirvana-ish.

Just my 1/50th of a dollars worth.

I'd love to see Spring Creek come back. They're fabulous musicians and Chris (their banjo player) is a great guy. My brothers and I had the pleasure of giving him a ride to Telluride when they played there.

String Cheese Incident

Saw them @ red rocks this year & had a blast.  While it's true they often drift away from "pure bluegrass", they also seem to have a very unique way of integrating bluegrass into their own flavor & unique sound.  In other words, they take it for "a walk in the woods" like no other band.

I realize they might draw a big crowd -- which could be a bit over the top for the festival, but I believe it might be a good thing in down economic times where concert tix often get put on the backburner.  Maybe a strategic coordination of a second or third show on Monday/Tuesday could work out well ... just as the Phish shows came on the heel of Telluride Jazz this past summer.

If not cheese, then furthur.

Jackie Greene is really hitting on all cylinders these days.   I know he's played the Blues and Brews but he'd fit in better at TBF.

I bought the collaborative album released by Sir Elton John and Leon Russell today. It might be pricey, but I'd love to see them together at TBF.

I like many of the above suggestions, particularly Neil Young and Robert Plant.  I'd also like to see Josh Ritter again.

I generally like the artists who don't fit within the confines of traditional bluegrass.  Variety is good.

I'm of the opinion that Del should have a spot every year he wants it. I'd also love to see Ricky Skaggs again.

I would like to see a collective set featuring the Radiators and Leftover Salmon.  The Radiators are retiring this year and I think the two bands would have a blast playing together.   Flower
