What about Dry Branch Fire Squad.

When have they ever played TBF? They may have, but my memory gets a little fuzzy.

Just heard about these girls...

The Secret Sisters

If you're like me and just finding out about them, check 'em out...http://www.secretsistersband.com/welcome.html

T Bone Burnett's got a hand in their album, and ol' Jerry Douglas is already sittin in with them... Thumbs Up

I think they could be a nice fit for an afternoon set  Sunshine

Caught Abigail Washburn's 45 minute set last Tuesday at The Basement in Nashville and I have to tell ya, she BLEW... THE... ROOM... AWAY. Two more free shows, 11/9 & 11/16 (Tuesday's) and I'll be there for sure.

Abby's new CD, City of Refuge, comes out in January and I have to tell ya, even considering my bias, the mature vocal range alone is worth making the trip to Town Park next year.

I'd have to put Abigail Washburn in the top 10 Picks for the shows I'd like to see at Telluride Bluegrass Festival in 2011.

House Band
Flecktones
Sammy & Band
Jerry D & Band
Johnny C & The Doobies
Abigail Washburn & Company
Railroad Earth
Trampled By Turtles
Stringdusters

Saw the band Rootstand this past weekend.

I would love to see them on the mountain.

I could list a whole lot of artists that either have been there before (subdudes! Stringdusters) or I think SHOULD be (Band of Heathens).  But more than anything, I wanna be surprised.

I'm always amazed by some of the artists we've gotten to see.  I had never heard of the New Orleans Social Club, nor Sharon Jones, nor Mumford, until they appeared on a TBF schedule.  Now I would go (and already have gone) WAY outta my way to see them again.

Even acts like Cake or especially David Byrne, who I knew of but were surprised by the scheduling at a bluegrass fest, have been real highlights for my years at T-ride.

Sure, along with the happy surprises are a couple of bands I was looking forward to trying out for the first time with less than spectacular results (I'm talking about YOU, Ryan), but overall the good surprises FAR out-weigh the negatives.

And the best part of this forum topic is seeing so many NEW bands brought up.  We all love our Sammy and Bela and family, but to me, it's the new stuff that makes every TBF better than the last.

Either that or it's the beer and bacon and friends and the mountains and...

I absolutely second Jam Strait's suggestion, THE SECRET SISTERS are amazing.  Saw them last night open up for Ray LaMontagne and Levon Helm.  Simply dynamite.
 Cheers

Levon's voice is gone.  The 11 piece band was great, the vocals are split up.  Levon tried singing 1 or 2, and it was rough.  Last year I would have begged for this show at Telluride, now, I am not so sure. Of course all of that is "Just one drunken, cooler-raiding, womanizing, udderly useless-duktape figure's personal opinion"

And as a seasoned Festivarian, one also born in Telluride, you are quite entitled t that opinion, DTM!

Back on the Soap Box.....

Are y'all aware that three members of NGR played on Darius Rucker's newest recording.. Yeah "that Hootie guy" Darius Rucker!

Hummmm..... could it happen in T'ride in 2011????  Evil
