The new Jenny Lewis release came out Aug. 31, but is filed under "Jenny and Johnny".  Very nice work with Johnathan Rice, who has a bigger presence on the album than I anticipated.  That's OK, he sounds a little like Joe Pernice at times, which makes this album sound a little like the Pernice Brothers joining in on a Rilo Kiley album.  Recommended tracks, "New Yorker Cartoon", "Straight Edge of the Blade."

Jenny and Johnny are opening up for the seminal post-punk band Pavement at the Ogden next Thursday night. It would be a pretty expensive show if you aren't into Pavement though. I think it is $35 and I don't think it is sold out.

Personally I'm psyched because I am a big fan of Pavement and originally this show was going to be at the big arena in Broomfield and is going to be way way better at the Ogden. I'm not sure if Jenny and Johnny have been on the bill the whole time or not.

Shortly after Folks I decided to find out who was opening for Pavement and I'd never heard of Jenny and Johnny, so I googled them and went to their website. Right on the front page was a big picture of Jenny Lewis and I thought "Well, hot damn!"

Just got home from the show. Jenny and Johnny were great and were well received by the audience. Pavement did what they do best - rocked it hard. The best thing is that we couldn't see any fire going over the Boulder overlook on 36. Kind of surprising but welcome.
