Hello all my girlfriend and I will be driving over from Denver for Festival however we cannot leave Denver until 6:00 Friday evening.  A couple of questions:  We are camping in Lawson and I just got the tickets so I have to get them at will call.  If we left Denver at 6pm and got into Telluride around 12-2am would we be able to still set up camp?  or get our tickets?  Could we set up camp and then go get our tickets that morning?  Would they let us do that?  Or is our best bet to wait and leave Denver in the middle of the night and get there early in the morning and get our tickets then set up camp?  Thank you in advance Wave

When you arrive there will either be a line of campers waiting for the campground to open or a campground host/ volunteer will be on site for camping check-in.

Make sure you get up to Town Park for the Pre-Festival activities (Sat. to Wed.) and be careful on those roads driving at night.

A reminder to ALL... the Elk  :deer are on the move at the same time we are on the move towards...

Thank you.  Just some clarity we will be arriving early Saturday morning of festival not before festival....so do you know if we will be able to still set up or check in at 2am on Saturday morning of festival?  We are trying to decide if we should leave Friday evening or wait until the middle of the night late Friday.  If we can't set up camp when we arrive then we'll wait.  Thank you again.

Maybe you could call Planet Bluegrass to get an answer. At the top of this page just click where it says Planet Bluegrass and that will take you to them where you can get the phone number.
I'm not sure how late the buses run from the late-night shows to take campers out to Lawson, but even at 2a.m. I feel pretty sure there will be some folks still up.  It just may be hard to set up in the dark, so waiting to arrive at dawn may be the best bet.
Drive carefully, and have a GREAT time! Cheers

To all the Lawson campers:  Is there a will-call at that campground, or do you have to go to the main box office at Town Park?  Is there a Lawson campground host that could help them that late?

There will be someone working at all times, but if you're that late, you won't be able to get your tickets till the morning.

Just come on down, talk to the security working the campground and get yourself settled.

As previously mentioned, make sure to be vigilant on the drive. Don't get in too much of a hurry. Elk are large, and they can ruin a weekend real quick.

Cheers

Okay thanks for the info!  I think we may just get there that early in the middle of the night and hopefully the security at the campsite will let us set up....or I guess we could always arrive around daylight and set up and then get our tickets.

Another camping question:
If camping at the high school, where does one park the car?
At the high school would be ideal.

thanks in advance!

It depends on when you arrive. We utilize many different lots during the festival, so where you will park will be at the whim of where our parking supervisor is currently parking cars. You MIGHT be at the High School...but you might be up in Mountain Village as well. It's possible you'll be in another lot in town, it all just depends.

Basically, what I'm saying is...I don't know where you'll park. LOL  Either way, your car shouldn't be more than 15-30 minutes away (including the gondola ride if you end up in Mountain Village).

Cheers
