Music on the Mounaintop Festival
http://www.musiconthemountaintop.com/index.php
Boone, NC on August 29th
Sam Bush Band, Keller Williams, Acoustic Syndicate, Steep Canyon Rangers, and many more.....

This festival is teamed up with AIRE, which is the Appalachian Institute of Renewable Energy.  There will be signigificant proceeds from the festvival to this AIRE.  They seek to reduce the region's dependence on mountain-top removal coal mining and other nonrenewable energy sources, and to create economically and environmentally sustainable livelihoods. They promote local and regional economic development based on renewable energy production--economies characterized by citizen control and community benefit. They work to educate policy makers, organize local communities, research appropriate technologies, and support community-scale energy projects. For information about AIRE, please visit:
http://aire-nc.org/

There will also be a river clean up during the day, a food drive, and a green village to promote environmental and social awareness.  Some of those nonprofits in the village will include:
NC Green Power
Appalachian Voices
ASU Energy Center
High Country Conservancy
Dogwood Alliance
Habitat for Humanity
Hunger Coalition

“Life is like music for its own sake. We are living in an eternal now, and when we listen to music we are not listening to the past, we are not listening to the future, we are listening to an expanded present.” ― Alan W. Watts
