I went to the Avett's show on Friday. And dang, that was some intensity. Amazing, for a trio of guitar, banjo, and upright bass.
If they didn't write such good songs the energy might have been overwhelming. But instead every song they did was like some timeless singalong (or scream-along). As they moved from quiet folksy songs to rockin' (still folksy, but intense) the core audience right up front would just erupt - stomping and jumping.
The show made me go home and listen to their CDs all day so that next time I see them I'll be able to sing along with every song. Great great stuff.
