Ha. Just because I judge people on their current work/performance and not past reputation Im deemed young am I ?? Pah. And lets not forget RP was responsible for "The Principle of Moments" which even he's brushed under the carpet.

If were going Alt C I would go Jayhawks or Louris/Olsen.

I have to say there have been a few bands listed by others that I would find myself on the other side of town as quickly as possible if they hit the stage. In fact I do that every time Leftover plays, but they have fans and I am not going to tell their bands suck like you do. (Really I just don't care for them, they do have some good songs)

I keep mouth shut, because letting people voice what they like should not really be a debate.
But if you wish to debate Robert Plant's current work, work that has been awarded with Grammys and his best reviews as a solo artist, than we can do that.  But I just not sure if this is place to do that.

I grew up on country, and would rather have Clint Black or even Taylor Swift at Telluride than David Bryne  but that's just me.  Give me fiddles and/or banjos any day, and yes RP & AK has a fiddle and banjos.

And Greensky should be asked to come back. They are a great Telluride band.

On a slight tangent.....how are the bands/artists selected for the festival?
Is it a committee, an individual, a group of committed individuals?? It must be a double edged sword of a job, not sure I'd want the responsibility.

Well done to those that do though, without them we'd just be watching the cars go by.

Not living in a festi-region, we journey to the festival every year to be entertained and introduced to a diverse variety of musicians.  We're frequently treated to artists performing outside of the style that we might expect.

And if you listen to a couple of tunes, and they are not of your liking, you can always take a hike!   Literally!

Hmm.... there seems to be as many cries for Greensky as there was for Railroad Earth.... having seen RRE a number of times now, I think I'd prefer some Greensky for variety. But I'd gladly settle for both.

I agree, I'm not a David Byrne fan myself but I'm sure others are so maybe that's time to have a pick or a leg stretch.  Wouldn't mind seeing Taylor Swift though, she has a great banjo player (Banjo Ben Clarke) who is also an exceptional flatpicker.

There are quite a few acts on the lineup that would have the bluegrass purists pulling their hair out but if it hadn't been for the 30th Anniversary DVD, I'd never have discovered the Waifs ..... so thanks TBF for your music policy.

I love the way PBG mixes it up.... I can remember the first fest I attended it was 1986 The entire crowd did a huge hush and replied,,, hey that's not Bluegrass,,, everyone paid attention and so many of those bands that were not bluegrass were so so fun and good... yep never would have found the Waifs, Ryan Schoop and the Rubberbands etc....,

Yes Mark, I'm talking to you, what were you thinking?!? Denigrating Alison Krauss on a bluegrass forum, where's the sense in you?!?   
I absolutely adore Alison Krauss, but I can understand she's not everyone's cup of tea...
But really, a Bluegrass novice depreciating one of Bluegrass finest voices, that just won't do!
Now go home and do a bit of homework: if you want to learn about bluegrass, start listening to it! Alison Krauss's album with Robert Plant is like a tiny island in the ocean of bluegrass music she's produced over the years, so before you express such contrary opinions, please get your knowledge up to scratch...To all bluegrass & AK lovers like myself, the reason we'd love to see her at Telluride is on the strength of her life long bluegrass career, not because of her latest release...
But mainly I'd like you to stop emitting negative waves in her name in case you ruin my good karma and stop her from coming to Telluride if she at all intends to...

Possibly another year with "Del and the Boys", or maybe a great up-and-coming band out of Ft. Collins, "Head For The Hills". Oh yeah, I wanna hear the "House Band" do an entire set of John Hartford tunes. Now wouldn't that be the best dang thing in the whole wide world!!!
