Happy 2009 to all of our Tie Dyed Friends.  Change my be upon us, but one thing every spring doesn't change.  So put the 2009 Tie Dye Party on your calendar now, and plan to join us for a great weekend of pickin' and grinnin' and campin' in beautiful (and remote) Ramah, New Mexico.  The 2009 16th Annual Road to Rich's Tie Dye Party will be the weekend of May 15-17, 2009.  Camping opens on Friday, May 15, with music all afternoon on Saturday, May 16.

So far we've got a fantastic line-up coming together, and we're excited to announce the following confirmed performances (in no particular order)!

The Infamous Saltine Ramblers - need we say more?
The Squash Blossom Boys - back for their second command appearance in Ramah.  And this time they're REALLY confirmed!
Headline Bluegrass Band - this Phoenix-based group will knock your strings off.  They won the band contest at the 2008 Pickin in the Pines festival in Flagstaff, and Tyler Walls on the 5-string was the 2008 Rocky Grass Banjo Contest winner!  Catch 'em now, and you can say you saw 'em just before they hit the big time!
The Porter Draw - We can't adequately describe these guys with words, so come see for yourself how this Albuquerque group re-interprets the term "Slam Grass."

As always, if you know anyone who should be added to our email list, please send an email to roadtorichs@gmail.com.  The Road to Rich's Tie Dye Party is a private party and if you read this post then you are invited.  You're also free to invite friends who you think would enjoy the weekend.

The Tie Dye Party has few rules, but here they are:
No fires, no dogs, no foghorns; pack it in, pack it out.

Hope to see you there!

Details, directions, more line-up announcements to come later.

OK, I'm back on the Board, after a brief hiatus....  Time to plan.  Time to make lists.  Time to get out the festival rig.

Here's the deal on the Road to Rich's Tie Dye Party - for those who've inquired.  Actually, it's not a "real" festival, just a huge birthday party.  So since it's technically a "private" party, you have to be invited.  Now then, if'n you're reading this post, then you've been invited!  And if you've been invited, then it's OK with us if you invite some of your friends, too.

We ask for a donation of $25 per adult for this big birthday bash to cover the costs associated with bringing such great music out to the middle of nowhere.  We're not making money and we're not "selling tickets" but we do hope that everyone who shows up can help make sure the bands find it worth their time to come to Ramah, NM.

Kids are very welcome, but unfortunately we have to ask that you leave the dogs at home.

This year's lineup, so far, includes the following bands that we are very excited to present:

Headline Bluegrass Band from Phoenix, featuring this boards very own CletusAz!
The Squash Blossom Boys
The Saltine Ramblers
The Porter Draw
Traditional opener, Stewart Byous
and all the way from Maui, the Brown Chicken Brown Cow String Band.

We're working on one more act and hope to announce the final lineup very soon.

This IS a tie dye party and our host and birthday boy, Rich Martin, supplies the dye; you bring a white cottom whatever to tie dye.  People will be dyeing all day!

Camping opens the afternoon of Friday, May 15 and everyone is welcome to come on out, set up camp, settle in and pick a while.  We can't allow individual campfires, but we have one communal bonfire to warm your fingers and light up your fretboard.

If anyone has any specific questions, please just let me know.

To be included on our email list, send an email to roadtorichs@gmail.com or friend us at myspace.com/roadtorichs and stay in touch that way.  The mysace page includes directions and a map - otherwise you'll never find us!

We're getting really psyched and we hope everyone can make it.
