"China" IS a sweet pop-up, and its SO nice to have the kitchen and two rooms in your vehicle, but thankfully health is not an issue, nor are there babies involved (chronologically-speaking LOL), so looks like we're tenting! Thumbs Up

How far away is parking after you set up camp?  Is there a special "lot" for Town Park campers, or is it wherever you can find?  Wondering b/c if we have to get there early to get good spot, I want to go play in the mountains B4 the fest instead of after like I orignally planned b/c I only have so much vacation to do this whole thing.

Gotcha- so plan on tenting, but keep trolling in Ticket Exchange/Swap section of this site, especially the closer we get to June.  Scoring a vehicle pass is a long shot, but- you never know.

Wow- parking can be complex, or simple.  In fact, parking needs its own thread, because I've been there and I don't understand it well. huh

Ever see the Seinfeld episode where George gets a great spot and then never wants to move his car?  It's like that.  The number of spots in town for festival goers is very limited- they get more scarce about Sunday-Monday before the music.  It can be as close as a 3-15 minute walk, near the campground or into town.  After that, they'll direct you back up to Mountain Village (or maybe Lawson) and you gondola (or shuttle) back and forth.  The townies seem to want you to come to the festival and spend money in town, but not park on their streets.  It's somewhat understandable, but my complaint is that there are not parking decals for Town Park/Warner campers that would allow you to park on some of the streets north of Colorado Ave. (the main street) and walk back to camp.  There's plenty of room on some streets north of Colorado, even during the festival.  Hotel and condo dwellers often get parking decals from the places in town that they are staying at that allow them to park in town.  While the festival does get a certain amount of spaces, it's not enough and this is one area that, in my opinion, the town and the festival together could improve upon.  I'm sure this is a difficult issue for them to try and work out- and you can't please everyone (one of those could be me.) Wink  But it seemed to me like the town was overly restrictive in regard to parking for town campers.

If you are parked up at Mtn. Village, it just means Monday morning you have to allow extra time for someone to ride the gondola up, get the car and come back down before loading.  It's not a huge deal, just a minor PITA.

Lemme ask this- what does "play in the mountains" mean?  As you know, Telluride has mountains on 3 of 4 sides w/ lots of hiking/biking right out of town.  You can get off the gondola on the ridge at about 10,000' and have all the ski area trails (and then some) to explore too.  Depending on when you plan to get there- I would do things that move the car earlier (up thru about Sunday).  After that, if I had a good parking spot, I'd do hiking/biking right out of camp.  I don't remember which day they start restricting traffic into town, but eventually they do.

That depends a lot on when you get there. If you're there the Saturday before festival (when Planet Bluegrass takes over Town Park) you'll be able to park on the road not far from Town Park. The later you arrive, the farther away you'll have to park. It's best to leave your car where it's parked until after the festival and you're ready to leave. Otherwise, your spot may get taken and you'll have to park miles away!

Can anyone answer that?  I thought you'd be able to at least get into town with Town Park passes (to set up), even if you don't get there until the last minute and there's nowhere to park.  Not true?

Been to Telluride other than TBF, so have seen lots right there already.  Breathtaking-(literal)-ly beautiful certainly, but this flatlander is looking to explore somewhere "new" on this trip too.  Hoping to get out for a couple days, maybe swing up to Ridgway or even Gunnison b/c I've not been, be back in town on Tues??  Lots of time to figure it out...

Oops, didn't mean to give you the wrong impression-  you can get into town anytime to set up.  During the days of the festival (and maybe the day before- not sure) they set up a checkpoint outside of town to limit traffic to locals or those w/ legit reasons.  It's not as restricted as I may have led you to believe, sorry 'bout that.

If not back till Tuesday, you can probably hunt for space near camp- but plan on the parking garage at Mtn. Village.
